Oahu: North Shore Beach or the Luau show?

Kissmark Cut Rock Total Posts: 414 Last Post: 6/12/2009 Member Since: 5/28/2007	i am getting married in oahu and I was just trying to finalize my schedule and realized that I only have 1 free day left. Originally I was thinking of going to North Shore beach, then afterwards go to the Polynesian Cutural Center's Luau, since it's around the same area. But then I realized that after a day at the beach I'd probably want to go back to the hotel and shower and change before I go to the show. So now I think the original plan probably won't work and I will have to decide on either the beach or the show. Which one would you recommend? Is the North Shore beach much better than the Waikiki? thanks

whatmeworry Ideal Rock Total Posts: 855 Last Post: 8/30/2009 Member Since: 5/24/2006	I don't see why you can't do both. Many of the north shore beach parks have outdoor showers. Just bring a change of clothing and feel free to soap and shampoo in the outdoor showers then change is the restrooms The North Shore is different from Waikiki. The North Shore is country and Waikiki is town. Each has their own charms. It depends what you are looking for. Waikiki can be crowded in places but there are less people at the beach near Kapiolani park or towards the Hilton Village. Ala Moana beach park just outside Waikiki is another option if you want to get away from the crowds (but not on weekends) but stay near your hotel.

Yes, it's a little bit too much if you go to the beach before hand because you'll be in the sun all day and it will wear you down. But if you do decide to go to PCC, there are some things you can look at on the North Shore. you can stop and look at the turtles at Laniakea beach, walk around Haleiwa town and get some shave ice at Matsumoto's, etc.
