My fiancé and I are 10 months from our wedding date...and still have not picked a location. We would have an outside wedding/reception at any of the three places. The place in the picture, place #1, is very beautiful. It is on the ocean, on a private beach/cove area. However, there is extremely limited parking. There might be enough parking for 10-15 vehicles. Does anyone have any ideas for transporting people there? Place 2 is my fiancés cousins. His cousins got married there and it turned out nice. They have a huge lawn...etc. Downfall is it is much less romantic and beautiful. It is in the same town that we live, and there is plenty of parking. Place 3 is my uncles, on the lake. The view is better then 2, but not as nice as 1. My brother got married there two years ago. He does have a heated pool that was much appreciated at my brother’s reception. Again, plenty of parking, but about an hour drive for most guests. Ideas? Also, we are doing a simple firefighter theme. We will have favors and small things that remind people of 'fire'. We want one of the wedding colors to be red, appropriately. Would Red and Pink or Red and White be better together?
Engaged on 12/5/05. Wedding date June 21, 2008. Trying to plan early! :) |

Hi Danielle, I'm not sure where in Maine you're looking (assuming it is Maine) but I love the pictures. There are trolley companies in the York, Ogunquit, Wells areas (and maybe elsewhere?) that allow you to rent a trolley for some period of time. We may do that to transport our wedding guests from the hotel to the venue, which is only 1 mile away. That way, no one has to worry about drinking and driving. What about something like that?

If you're asking for votes, I'd vote for #1 because of the view (if you can come up with a solution for parking). It's beautiful! I'd go with #3 next because it's on a lake and I love water views.

Isn't it beautiful? It is in Georgetown, Five Islands. I will look into a trolly, thank you for the suggestion. Engaged on 12/5/05. Wedding date June 21, 2008. |

I recall seeing one wedding on the Knot where the bride and groom rented a good old yellow school bus for the day to transport guests. Apparently, everyone got a big kick out of riding on a school bus again! Plus, it was relatively cheap to rent (compared to other transportation options). Now, if your wedding is a really formal black tie affair, a school bus may not fly, but based on what you said it sounds like your event is going to be more laid back. So, a school bus may be worth looking into, especially since the photo of the location you posted IS really gorgeous (I'd want my wedding there too if I were you)! Good luck finding something that works for you!

I say the first one!!! It looks gorgeous and it sounds like you really love it! I would say to save the transportation issue is to just rent a bus that can pick people up from a central location (or maybe two of time and budget allows). My friend's father did that for her wedding. They rented a bus piled on all their family friends and drove down to the location. It was actually loads of fun apparently cause everyone got a chance to chat and stuff, and if it's like one of those tour buses then there's a mic in front, and her dad was usin git to like takl to everyone.
