So, yesterday we got a wedding present from one of our groomsmen in the mail from Target.  It was the drill we registered for and we were really excited!

Stupidly we put our home address for the registry and ups won't leave packages when no one's home, so we've been having to reroute all packages.  We did it with this one and when we got home we had another missed package notice.  When I went online to reroute it, I realized that it was part of the same gift.  It should've been 2 packages, but for some reason they only rerouted 1 instead of both.

FI just sent me an email to say that he opened the 2nd part of our gift at work and guess what it was...

The same exact drill...from the same person...what?!

I just checked online and it says that only one was purchased...I just called our friend to tell him to check his credit card bill and make sure they only charged him once.

That is really weird! I hope your friend didn't get charged twice.

Maybe you'll end up with two drills out of it all? Would you feel OK keeping one and returning the other for store credit?

I think I'd feel guilty keeping both since only one was paid for.  If we didn't return the 2nd drill, we'd probably give it to our friend who bought it.

Robbie it is a moral issue. Just do whatever you think it right.

If you call them, they will probably tell you to keep it since it was their mistake. But it's totally up to you.

That's so bizarre!  I think I'd call and let Target know there was some mistake...karma and all that, ya know?  Just my .02, of course.

I just got an order from a kids clothing company, a complete duplicate of an order they sent me in JUNE. I sent it all back with a note. If they double charged me, credit me, if not, here is the stuff back. Target may have sent two but not charged him, but it is good for him to check it out...

Huh, Target's a little spacy these days. I apparently sent something to MYSELF off our registry, at least according to the gift receipt that came with it. I've contacted the people who did buy me gifts from there, to find out if it was part of their orders that got credited incorrectly. Not sure what I'll do if I can't figure it out.

Ok, I called Target and their first suggestion was that I drive it over to the Target store to return it...uh...it's really out of the way, so that's not going to work.  So now they're having ups pick it up.  I didn't even get a "thanks for being honest."  Whatever.

That does tick me off. You are honest, you do not even get a thank you, and they expect you to go out of your way to return it to them when it was their error? So much for customer service!

Oh their customer service is one of the worst in the business. It is really disappointing since they have cute products.

I did not realize that. I am honest for honest's sake, not for anything I get, but still, you would think in the world we live in they would at least be appreciative that you alerted them to this, and not expect you to waste time and gas to get it back to them!
