Is it safe to boil a ring?

MaryAlaina Ideal Rock Total Posts: 651 Last Post: 2/4/2009 Member Since: 9/3/2003	I read somewhere that for tough cleaning jobs you could boil rings in white vinegar. Is that safe? My yellow diamond ring has step cut half moon side stones, and they are so dirty! I am paranoid about having lotion on my hands (because I don't want to mess up my stones), so I'm not sure why they are so bad. Regular US and jewelry cleaners aren't doing anything. What can I try that is safe?

Pour water that's just boiled into your US, temper your ring with warm to hot water, and then put it in and run it a few times. I believe it's 1 part to 4, but you might use a smidge more since you have Platinum.
