I haven't posted in a looooooong time, but we just booked a bunch of stuff, so I better get back into the swing of planning! Here are our save the dates, my mother does not like them. We're having the ceremony at a church and the reception at an art museum. I kind of like the grainy look of the picture. Maybe I'm just sick of trying to make Save the Dates! Before I get 100 of them printed, I thought I'd get your professional bridal opinions! ![]() |

Did your mother say what she doesn't like about it? I think it's nice. The only thing I find is that I keep staring at your breasts in the photo! For some reason it just jumps out at me. I don't know if your mother thought the photo was a bit intimate? It's a nice photo, though, I'm just wondering if your relatives might have the same reaction.

Crap! That's exactly what my mom doesn't like! She used the word "boob" five times or more in an email. Thank you for your honesty!! Unfortunately, I already ordered them... Should I really not send them? I don't want to seem obscene!

Haha... well at first glance I thought "what a cute picture!!" But I see what you guys mean... maybe a little more "intimate" than what is typically hanging on my grandmother's fridge. Still, you can only worry about so much... ask yourself if you REALLY care if some of your more conservative guests might be a bit taken aback... and if not, send 'em!!

i agree...it's a cute picture and interesting to look at over and over, but might not be quite appropriate for an annoucement of a traditional wedding (not sure if that's what you're having). It is an intimate photo and maybe gives off a vibe that is sweet, but also suggestive. Again, nothing wrong with any of that, but maybe doesn't go hand in hand with a wedding which is typcially about innocence and tradition (i'm really generalizing here!). my suggestion is maybe send out 2 sets? Send out this set to your close friends (ie more hip types) and create a more traditional one for family and family friends. That ought to keep your mom happy

I think janinegirly's suggestion is a good one. Your girl friends probably won't mind, but your conservative, older family and friends may probably find it a bit suggestive. And your male cousins and friends of your FI may be like.. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with that possible reaction. For me, I would choose something that's sweet but doesn't make me want to stare at your breasts. I know you didn't intend it that way! But you do have nice boobs, and the white shirt and the position in which you're standing do make them stand out a bit in this picture, IMO.Sha |

I really like it and I don't really see "boob" quite as much as others have mentioned. See how it looks when you get them (they're larger than life on my screen), and if mom still hates them, maybe do a different version for the most conservative folks. I still think its really cute and not overly suggestive.

Thank yall so much for your input. It seems my mom has made a little peace with them and you are right, we'll see when they arrive whether we need a more grandma-friendly version!

Haha! I was also a bit 'whoooa!' but not in a bad way. You should tell your mom you can't help it if you're a beautiful sexy lady! (heeheeeee!) I love the idea of sending them to your friends, and then doing something more... austere for older relies and parents' friends if, when they arrive, you're worried. We are thinking of doing that with our invites too. They'll be all formal in terms of paper and fancy font and stuff, but since we're printing them ourselves, we can change it up a little for our friends. just subtly change stuff like instead of 'Reception to follow' (for the relies) we'll write 'Kickass party to follow" but still in the very fancy formal font. We think our friend will enjoy that. ![]() And the relatives and parental friends never have to know.

Ohhh! I love that idea! The kickass party in fancy font is going to ROCK! And about telling my mom I can't help being a sexy lady... she can't be mad, I got those *ahem* distractions from her!!!

Yeah, I agree, the picture, while a great picture on its own, seems a little suggestive for a save the date. I just noticed that you already ordered them. I like the idea of maybe doing more than one version -- one for the more conservative folks and one for the less fussy people.

IMHO I don't like that I can't see your FI's face. Do you have any other photos we could compare?

I love the picture...you guys look like one of those Calvin Klein ads! I think if you do send out a second set, it might be wise to have your names on them (unless you removed them for PS and I just didn't see that)...no sense in having Grandma not sure who on earth she's saving the date for, if you know what I mean! ![]() Where did you order your STD's from? Tacori, I was worried about the face thing, too, but FI said he liked it. He hates having pictures taken, so it suits him that you can't see his face. Hmm. We ordered them from vistaprint.com. I uploaded my own design, but it was still so cheap, if we get them and hate them, it's no big deal. Thanks for the input, ladies! I think we'll see when they get here if they are grandparent worthy.... haha.Oops! I forgot to tell you Harleigh, our names are on the back. It's printed postcard-style on the back with our names big and the return address smaller and our wedding website tiny. I hope they flip it over....

Vistaprint does a good job. If you love them, that is all that matters. My grandma threw away our thank you card b/c she thought it was inappropriate (we were kissing but I thought it was tasteful) so you can never make everyonr 100% happy.
