Hi everyone,

I just saw this interesting article by Jeff Miller:

http://www.diamonds.net/news/NewsItem.aspx?ArticleID=18544

He writes about Garry Holloway getting a Patent on HCA and has some good information.

The patent info:
#7251619
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=7,251,619.PN.&OS=PN/7,251,619&RS=PN/7,251,619

Kudos to Garry Holloway !!!

CONGRATS GARRY!!!!!!!

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Congrats indeed, Garry...it's been a long time coming.

Did you know it was about to clear?  How much have you moved on.

Or will we see now some new inventiveness.

Incorporation in a PDA?
Hard copy portable look up tables?

I'm guessing this will have opened up a door to possibilities.

Hey, waaaaaiiit a minute!!! I assumed it'd been patented all along! I should have known Garry was taking his sweet time, dragging out the paperwork in between swigs of beer. Gee, if only I had known...by the time Garry shook the outback dust from his application he'd have been wondering why everyone was calling it the "Hest Cut Advisor" and why I kept signing into Pricescope from my private Tahitian isle!

thx folks.

I wondered if there was some conspiracy. It took so long and sooo many Q&A's = huge legal costs.

Seriuosly!!

I have a bet with my Gym mate (mate as in G'day mate - in the Aussie sense) to loose 4 kg = about 9 lb for a bottle of 389.  Looks like I will win - only 1kg to go, and the best news is he has some really old ones tucked away. Even better - he will have to come out and share it (his wife never lets him out to play).

Garry,

Hopefully Storm will be by, but meanwhile, this topic has come up before, referenced by you, and it's been raised both recently, and longer ago (here referencing HCApro).

Just adding on to the concept of HCA2...

1) Seems like the two audiences you've conceptualized are cutters, and the general population.
2) For both...as noted in the above examples, changing the calculation of scores to recognize stereoscopic vision is a goal you've discussed
3) Further, for consumers...making HCA portable is an idea you've mentioned yourself, here.
4) However, think about the possible wide need...consider Tweinbeir's circumstance, the ability to provide a conceptual fix, but constraints he has without the ease of access to an HCA utility portably.
5) And consider my possibly less sophisticated solution, but one that might be more widely available, based on what I understand to be the nature of your available data (see your last post here)...and the idea that you could publish hard copy look-up-charts, and where a fellow can walk in, reference particular table & depth data, turn to his handy dandy guide, and get a quick read on the HCA.

Congrats again,

Ira (Ruffles have Ridges) Z.
