Happy new week all from the land of PANTSY weather!

Anyway life goes on and so does health and weight maintenance.  I had a bloated feeling kinda day the other week, where I felt like an elephant and bored with myself blah blah.  But I went for my tried and tested trick of doing something different, often something as simple as a new nail polish or lipstick can make all the difference to self image, and really up the motivation factor.  Anything you do which is good for yourself can have this effect and it needn't cost a lot, but sometimes it really can make all the difference to remotivating you to getting back out there and working out and feeling good about yourself, even our guys can do something similar perhaps with a new T shirt or haircut, cologne etc ( don't want to leave them out!)

So this can be an effective trick to use if the blahs hit and it is an important tool which can help in our journey of fitness management.

Keep up the great work everyone and keep your fingers crossed for all us Brits that one day the rain will stop!

Keeping my fingers crossed that it actually begins to rain here!! Major drought issues! Actually didn't see rain for all of June and most of May - however, July has had a few showers. Send the rain this way!

* with all my might!*  Our freaky weather has something to do with the gulf stream not moving as the summer has progressed, apparently it should have moved North so all this rain should be over the North sea, but for some reason it hasn't happened.  The South has been hit with bad floods now, in the East we have got off fairly lightly compared to some poor folk.

Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom, Lorelei.  A small change and doing something nice for yourself can certainly lift your spirits. I am definitely a nail polish girl; I've got about 15 colors and like to try new ones all the time.  Sorry to hear the rains won't stop there.

Stephanie I hope you get some rain.  What region of the country to you live in?

I'm in Wyoming and we've had serious drought here for years but we had more rain and snow this year than we've had in a long time.  Yesterday we had a thunderstorm roll through with rain, small hail and dropped our temp from the 90's to the 60's.  It was nice.

I lost 2/10 of a pound yesterday.  Yeah!  That's a small reward but a nice one.

Have a great week everyone.

Marcy

I hope some beautiful flowers will spring out from the rain.

Well, I seem to have lost 3 lbs.  I hope it isn't a fluke or water weight.  Although I did have a cup of ice cream over the weekend.  Anyway, I'm back to my "diet" this morning with the Kashi Go Lean cereal.  It tastes pretty sweet but but boy are my jaws tired from all that crunching.

Yay - great going Marcy and Chrono ( i doubt the icecream would have made much difference!)!!!

I love Kashi Go Lean crunch, I eat it out of the box for snacks and that stuff is addictive!

Hooray for weight loss, Chrono!  I'll bet you're missing your bread but I have a feeling small changes, cereal for breakfast, less rice, are going to make a difference for you.

Marcy, hooray for small victories!  I'm glad we've decided to stay in CA too.  I really love San Diego.  I love the ocean and it's so nice to live as close as we do, and to know that pretty soon we'll be much, much closer.  I've done a lot of moving over the past 4 years and being settled into one place is a good feeling after having been on the move for so long.

We need rain, Lorelei, you can send it our way.

Dinner last night was caprese salad, turkey jalepeno sausage and tator tots.  Yummy!

Today it's back to work.  Looking forward to seeing the kidlets.  Only 2 weeks and a few days to go before I have 2 weeks off.

Have a terrific day morning all!  Will check in later.

Good morning all,

Thanks for the tip Lorelei.  I could've used it yesterday b/c I was feeling kind of blah and un-motivated.  But I did get a workout in and 1 more to go today for my 5 this week.  Yesterday, I definitely ate too much but I figure it was mainly too much fruit, an extra cheese stick.. how bad can that be??  I know it was probably b/c I sat in the house all day but getting some rest and not running around for a change seemed like such a good idea at the time.
Anyway, back to today!

Congrats Marcy and Chrono on the weight loss.  I hopped on the scale today and saw I was 1.2 down from last week.  Tuesday is my official weigh in day so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Hope it starts raining soon for you Stephanie!

Kimberly, dinner sounds good!  I just had a lean cuisine type thing but took out some chicken for dinner tonight.  I think I will make it w/pineapple juice and then heat up some pineapples to go w/it.  Sort of a healthy sweet and sour... sort of.  I'm looking fwd to it already.

Have a good Monday!

You are welcome Dixie!   I find that smell is a great energiser/ motivator for me, so a couple of squirts of nice perfume or my special one can lift me out of the doldrums really quickly!  Simple, but effective.

Hah, my problem was that yesterday all I really wanted to smell was chocolate!  That's actually part of the reason I didn't leave the house, I knew I wouldn't go buy something good for me!!
But feeling better today, just sleepy and not all that interested in working.

HI:

I suppose I am going to blaspheme here--but I am the only one who does not like that Kashi Go Lean breakfast cereal?  The Kashi crackers are pretty good but I thought the cereal tasted what I imagine like cardboard tastes like.....

Still melting here from the heat.  Exercised like mad yesterday--an hour on the stationary bike, then trapsed the hills and valleys nearby, but the heat got to me.  Think I did pretty good considering......and off to do the same here again shortly....

Lorelei--hope the weather improves....my neighbours just came back from 3 weeks in Europe and were quite 'displeased' with the cool and wet weather in England and many other places they visited....oh well....

Enjoy your day everyone!

cheers--Sharon

Canukgal,
If you really want to try a cardboard cereal, there's Fiber1 (at least I think that's the one).  They look like brown twigs and taste like brown twigs.  Yuck.

I don't care for Kashi's ceral either. So you are not at all alone. AND I actually prefer FIber one as long as I have a packet of splenda to sweeten the milk with.

I was fairly good over the weekend I did splurge a little at the GTG ( had an UNHEALTHY brioche, egg, ham and ton of cheese sandwich for breakfast)... although I was good at lunch and stuck to a DELICIOUS salad. I was still full at dinner so basically just had a yogurt.

Will go walking at Lunch again today. And stuck to an egg white scramble for breakfast. I have weighed myself at all in three weeks... so I'm feeling a bit anxious. I will officially weigh in that the OBGYN in a couple of weeks (need to verify that appointment) and buy a scale that day.

Stayed up will FOUR AM finishing Harry Potter so I'm a bit jittery and grumpy today. And lazy. But I think my lunch time walk should take care of that.

Too bad I have 3 idiots on a teleconference in a half hour. Not gonna be easy to be serene and calm and not knock their heads together like the stooges they are.

Sorry about the weather Lorelei!!! That suxs!~

Great job on the 3 lbs Chrono!!!

Mara and Tdiddy, I never ever fell in my 17 years of step!!!  I am clumsy though.  Tdiddy, be careful of intersections.

Marcy, great job on 2/10ths!

Kimberly, my doctor had her baby last night so I have to wait 2 weeks for my appt.   The waiting is going to kill me!
Plus, I will have to see a different doctor; oh well.  Yay, to 2 weeks soon to be off!!!  Yum, caprese salad!

Hey Dixie!

Lorelei, thanks for reminding us about rewarding ourselves or doing small things to make us feel better!  Sending our sunshine your way

Sharon, where do you live???  I know Canada but which town?  Glad you went biking; hills can be hard, great job!

I am sooooo sore today from the hike!  I think I will go for a short walk tonight.  I meet my Dr. friend for lunch today.

Happy Monday all!

Skippy

morning all...!!

i am soo tired this morning! we didn't get to bed til like 12:30 last nite/this morning and then i got up at 6:45am to get ready for today because i am traveling and wanted to wash and dry my hair (Which takes forever!) and then also bathe portia as well. i took one call in the car and managed to get my first coffee here at the office at like 8:15am..YAWN! then my 2nd call was somehow not working, i couldn't dial in...so i finally was able to eat breakfast (kashi go lean mixed with TJ's corn flakes, blueberries, strawberries). i am only at the office til about 1pm today, then i'll work from home for a few hours and pack and then head out to the airport. i am tired just thinking about it!! i think i need more coffee.

lorelei...good tip on pulling yourself mentally out of the doldrums...it's so easy to get down on yourself at times.

anyway hope everyone is having a fair enough monday hehee.

Marcy - I live in central Alabama. If you look at a drought map of the southeast, I am smack in the middle of the exceptional area. The water levels are so low that they are about to release emergency water for the lakes and streams. The entire state is on a water conservation plan now too. It's crazy! Congrats on the loss - may be a little, but many little losses can add up.
Dixie - sounds like that pineapple chicken will be great! I kind of want to make it now...
Gypsy - Did you love the book, especailly the end? Or have you gotten there??
Mara - Have fun!!

I have been on my scale strike for about a week now, so I think that I may check the weight tomorrow to see how it's going... But I am happy that I have lost about seven inches over my entire body (two in each thigh alone). We have about 3 weeks until we go to the beach, and I am actually excited to be in a two piece (I have abs - who knew?)!

Well, our first round of friends are gone from the beach and our second are coming tonight.  We had a blast, and I've felt that I've been doing well with how much I've been eating but not always with the content . . . pizza, dessert, no veggies, more meat than usual . . . I cooked a package of spinach to eat with lunch.  The only supermarket around here doesn't carry the easily microwavable frozen veggies so that makes it hard.

We hadn't seen these friends much recently (and never in bathing suits), so at dinner last night it came up that I'd lost weight.  I thought the wife looked like she was shocked that I'd lost 17 pounds just like everyone seems to be, but her husband (we were the friends originally) said that he had noticed and had mentioned it to his wife how I looked toned, thin, and fancy in my new clothes and wearing my jewelry (I can't remember exactly how he phrased it but that was the gist).  I don't wear my glasses during the summer, so I think I'd made a bit of a shocking transformation from dowdy school teacher to goddess in a bikini.  OK, I don't look that good, but . . .

I purposely didn't bring up weight loss or working out because I could tell that the wife had gained a lot of weight recently (I thought she was pregnant when they first arrived, but when she immediately accepted a drink I realized I was wrong.)  But somehow it came up last night.  I don't blame her -- with a sick husband and a full time job, I'm sure it's hard to find time to workout.

Completely agree with this....the regular FiberOne is AWFUL.

HOWEVER......their FiberOne flakes with Honey (nut) Clusters is DIVINE!  Fabulous alternative with 13g of fiber, and it tastes yummy!

Thanks Lorelei!  I definitely take it one day at a time!

Canuk-gal, I tried one of the Kashi cereals that someone mentioned on here before but didn't like it either.  I think it was the one similar to Cheerios but it didn't taste good to me!  I might try this one mentioned though b/c I'm always on the look out for new cereals.  Sounds like you got in a good workout!

Gypsy, good luck on your upcoming weigh in!  Your egg white scramble sounds good. I have yet to make egg-white anything (I rarely make eggs but never think of it when I do).  I think i'll have to try that next time.

Hi Skippy!  Hope you had a good lunch!

Mara, have a good trip!  Is it fun or work?

Stephanie, congrats on the 7 inches!  That is great!!  Someone else mentioned the pineapple chicken to me and I've been too lazy to cook so we'll see if it happens tonight.  I have to workout after work and then should have time since I took out the chicken this morning.  I hope the pineapple juice is enough flavoring.  Anyone have any suggestions to add to it?

Phoenix, it's nice when people notice the weight loss!  Congrats on the 17lbs!!

Happy Monday All!

We have just a little over 1.5 hours till it's Sushi and Sapporo time for Rod and Charlie!  YAY.........It's nice to be able to start our week with something special on Monday after work.

I'll chime in and say that I eat Kashi Go Lean cereal, but it's not really something I truly enjoy. Actually, I like 'Whole Grain Total' better and it's lower in calories (like 90 calories without milk) and to me, tastes better.

Mara, have a great time in Vegas.  I hope you get some time between business meetings to go and win some money for all your PS freinds, OK??!!

Sorry you have to wait two more weeks for your test results Skippy.  I hope you get good results when you get them!!

Yay on 3 lbs Chrono!!  Hopefully, some of our advice helped the scale gods smile favorably on you!!

How great for you Stephanie that you're looking forward to the beach and a two piece bathing suit!  Have you seen the continuing bikini commercial from Dannon Yogurt on TV?  It actually started in the winter with her eating yogurt while it was snowing and the yellow polka dot bikini was hanging up.  And now, it's summer and she comes out with a raft wrapped around her until she realizes that hey, she looks great!  Anyway, now I'll think of you like that!!

Finally, great opening thoughts as usual Lorelei!  Sorry you're still in the Pants over there.

Yesterday when I was doing my arm things it didn't feel like much, but I'm a tiny bit sore today so it must have been more than I thought. Foodwise I've been pretty good today, although there was a moment at the closing I had this afternoon where I was tempted to eat EVERY SINGLE PEANUT BUTTER CUP on the table. But I didn't. Not one!!!

Tonight dinner will be some left over rotisserie chicken on my way out the door to pick up a client, and probably some pudding when I get home. Nothing too exciting.

Gotta hop!

the kashi go lean is one of the least carboardy ones to me actually...esp with some fresh berries tossed on top. fiber one twigs as i call them, i need to mix them with a bunch of things but they certainly are effective hehee. also i like all bran and 'corn bran' which is a kellogg's thing i think, 90 cals for 3/4c and 5g fiber...not bad actually and they are pretty flavorful and sweet.

thanks for all the 'fun wishes'...this trip is for work but we have some fun stuff planned too. it's a team building/sales meeting so it will be fun yet really busy. i am looking fwd to it and then tired at the same time!!

anyhow almost time for me to head out, i may read at night but not sure i'll post...have a great week all!! i'll be back on thurs evening...and ready to crash i am sure!

Gypsy - Did you love the book, especailly the end? Or have you gotten there??
Yes I did love the book. There were a few parts right in the center that, for me, were a little slow going but it didn't last long and I really thought the ending (though really dark in parts) was very good. How did you like it (as vaguely as possible, don't want to give anyone spoiler.

Happy Afternoon All!

I was feeling pretty tired today, the kids were a bit wild, but I worked out anyways and am so glad!  Did about 45 minutes on the elliptical and now am in need of a shower!

I'm making pasta w/ basil, tomatoes and garlic for dinner.  We went to the farmers market yesterday and picked up some delicious heirlooms, yummy!

Dixie, I would add some fresh basil to that chicken w/ pineapple. I'd make a bread crumb mixture w/ basil, bake the chicky and put some grilled pineapple on top.

Have a fun trip, Mara.

Hope you're enjoying your night out, Rod!

Oh Kim - that pasta sounds so good! I made something like that last night for dinner - we mix in goat cheese and/or some lowfat mozzarella, since as a veggie, I kind of have to get it where I can! I also peeled the tomatoes for the first time (really easy to do) and was pleasantly surprised by what a big difference it made in the texture and flavor of the sauce - yum!

Unfortunately, I'm having a super-draggy day. No particular reason, just really tired and unmotivated. I did go to the gym this morning, and weighed myself as normal on Monday, and even though the scale said I'm down another pound (which officially gets rid of everything from our recent vacation), I feel like a heifer. My clothes are fitting exactly the same, I'm eating exactly the same, I'm just having a fat day. Yuck!

Maybe I need to try one of Ms. Lorelei's wonderful suggestions for a pick-me-up. Sadly, I just got a bunch of new goodies and we're trying to be extra-careful with money since we just got DH a new car, so not really sure what that might be, but hopefully I'll think of something!

Gypsy - I'm so jealous of you reading HP - DH bought it on Saturday while we were at the GTG, and I agreed to let him read it first since he went out and got it, but I read way faster, so even though I'm re-reading book 6 first, I think I might be waiting a while

Happy Monday!  There just weren't enough hours in the day today, so I'm looking to sitting down in front of the tube tonight with DH, Puppy, and some magazines.

Changed to the Yoga Booty Ballet Burlesque tape.  Holy cow.  I needed a shower afterwards for more reasons than one.  I have never laughed so hard in a workout in all my life, but boy, did it work the fanny!  There is one guy in the background doing the routine on the tape and I just wish he didn't look like he was having the time of his life doing these strip-tease moves.  It made it hard for me to concentrate...not because he was doing it, but because he was doing it with all the grace and femininity of a moose.

Ate well today -- Total with Cranberries (sent from heaven) for breakfast, a big ol salad for lunch (still working down the veggie tray from last week), a Kashi bar for a snack, and grilled tuna with hoison sauce for dinner.  Yummmm.

I caught myself in a mirror today and actually thought, "Looking good!"  Unfortunately, my brain, ever the funny one, added "Mr. Kotter" at the end of that phrase.

It sounds like everyone is having  a productive and wonderful Monday, for the most part.   I'm sorry I don't have time to address everyone personally...I'll try to log back on later...I'm just having one of those crunch days.

Have a wonderful evening, friends.
