FI and I are having a netflix 'sponsored' movie festival (in my living room, of course) of wedding movies.

So far, our favourite is the Ang Lee flick "The Wedding Banquet." Awww, got me all choked up at the end. Ang Lee is so great.

What's your favourite wedding movie? We'll put it on our list!

The only one I can think of right now is Father of the Bride.  I am there are a jillion more, but this movie did amuse me.

Oh, I love Ang Lee's "Wedding Banquet" too! I should make hubby watch it again so he can be grateful we were spared some of the embarassing wedding games.
I like "Four Weddings & a Funeral." It's a classic. Plus you get to see four different weddings themes and colors.

I like The Wedding Planner as long as we're exploring cheesy chick-flicks

The Wedding Singer and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are fun, too!

How about Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding? muahahaha

I like all the ones mentioned plus My Best Friends Wedding and Four Weddings and a Funeral...also The Swan, an oldie with Grace Kelly, not sure if you can rent it or not!

I love Father of the Bride, both the original with Spencer Tracey/Elizabeth Taylor and the new one with Kelly Williams (Paisley) and Steve Martin.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is a great one, as is Runaway Bride, Monsoon Wedding (love Bollywood!) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

My all-time favorite, though, is Philadelphia Story with Kate Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant.. The musical remake (High Society) with Grace Kelly, Fred  Astaire, Frank Sinatra is good...but definitely not as good as the original!

FI would probably say Wedding Crashers and The Wedding Singer. Our movie tastes differ a bit....

The Princess Bride! Not exactly a tear-jerker, but funny as hell.

Plus I second Philadelphia Story.

Not our favorite but Confetti was a truly different one. It's a fake documentary from the UK about three engaged couples that compete to have the Wedding of the Year.

Copy that Munckin!  Phil. Story is the best!!  It is Yar!  But anything with Ja-Ja-Ja-Jimmy Stewart has my attention!  And I love Foolin Around...Gary Busey and Annette O'toole (1980).

Fun thread!  Look forward to more!

Not completely a wedding movie, but the beginning is my all time favorite wedding ceremony scene_ Love Actually!

ETA: The Wedding Planner, My Best Friend's Wedding, Betsy's wedding is the epitome of wedding stress!

Awww.. come on ladies.. where are all my southern girls at... can I get a shout out for Steel Magnolias..

ok.. I know I know.. not completely a wedding feel good movie.. but you gotta hand it to the first 45 min. of that movie...

"My colors Momma are blush and bashful..."  "Her colahs are pink and pink, how pretentious is the weddin gonna get I ask you..."

Ahhh.. I LOOOOOVE that movie!!  I think it was the beginning of my fascination with all things PINK!

yes Jaders, shout out here for Steel Magnolias!  Saw a hometown play based on it as well, it was hysterical, I love Weezie.  (Nekkid as a magnolia tree...)

Um, back to the subject.  My faves are Princess Bride, already mentioned, and Wedding Crashers.  I love Intolerable Cruelty even though it's a little dark for a wedding movie it's still fab and I love CZJ as she is always so beautiful, I can't take my eyes off of her in any movie!  Hmm...OH!  Muriel's Wedding!  I forget the name of the actress who plays Muriel but she played the mom in last years Little Miss Sunshine as well and now I believe she has just announced her pregnancy.  I love her.  She was also in that movie with Cameron Diaz in which there was also a wedding from 2005, I think...can't remember the title.

Sorry for the random thoughts and disorganization!

American Wedding...although that's pretty raunchy and not one of my favorites.  (the threequel to American Pie)

I honestly can't think of any more right now!  Did you search around on the internet?  No wedding movie can be worse for your FI to view than the t.v. shows like Bridezillas or Whose wedding is it anyway...LOL!

I don't recommend The Wedding Date. That movie was pretty bad.

I haven't seen The Wedding Banquet yet so I just added it to my Netflix queue. Thanks!

So, this weekend's "Wedding Movie Film Festival at Chez Indy" selection was a German film called "The Wedding Party". If I had realized that the German title was "Die Bluthochzeit" (or, roughly, "The bloody wedding") I would have given it a miss. It was supposed to be a hilarious satire involving a kidnapped bride. It had its moments of funniness and the acting was great. But I don't really like seeing people shot or threatened with torture in my wedding movies. You know? It's just kind of a downer.

BUT! Anyone who is worried that their reception could go badly, or anyone who thinks theirs DID go badly, watch this film! You will feel oh! so much better. It can't possibly be as bad as this.
