Can chlorine hurt WG and diamonds???

I remembered to take off my e-ring which is plat and another YG ring I had on but I totally forgot to take off my WG bangle with diamonds in it from WF. Could I have hurt the diamonds or the WG??? I can't remember if chlorine hurts diamonds and is there a chance it will wreck the WG? Could those who know pls chime in. If chlorine isn't any good for diamonds and WG then what should I do now to minimize anything I may have wrecked with my stupidity I was only in the hot tub for about 45 minutes max, maybe closer to an hour but not more than that. Thanks

One evening in a hot tub won't do any harm. FWIW, I take off all my jewelry before going in.

Chlorites can be damaging to settings and prongs, so remove rings when using household cleaning products too. At first I just saw the toilet bowl, then I realized it's a kitty in the bathroom unraveling the TP (although it also looks like kitty is typing on a typewriter). Butterfly, Chlorine will not hurt diamonds but will eat away/weaken gold (white and yellow). One soak will not destroy it but I'd avoid further contact with chlorine. Platinum does not react with chlorine.

Honestly, with that one, I would not chance it! What if the ring slips off your finger? That is the bigger risk, IMO. . .and, even it the Rhodium is protecting your ring, it will eventually wear thinner and there is more chance the chlorine will be exposed to the white gold underneath.

The plating layer is very thin and we can't see the effects of the corrosion on the gold setting with the naked eye until it is too late.

I definitely won't be taking it in the hot tub again. The bangle is rhodium plated though so is Miranda right that it somewhat protects WG? Or does the chlorine eat it away?

Frankly I think the risk/scare of chlorine damaging a ring is overblown. The concentration in a pool/hot tub is pretty low otherwise you couldn't swim in it. I know people who have swam every summer day and spent time in a hot tub almost everyday for decades and their gold rings 18k and 14k are just fine. 10k gold would be more of an issue. ........... Although you can probably use it to catalyze reactions in class if you're a chemistry teacher, going in the pool shouldn't hurt it. For plat and diamond rings, I think someone mentioned---unless you have a TOP notch setting, and not always even then, you get WG/YG solder which IS affected by chemicals. And as the others have mentioned, not much in the way of chemicals hurts diamonds. I mean, if you drop it in concentrated acid you might have a problem....

I'm pretty sure chlorine isn't harmful to gold but rather to the metals added to gold such as nickle and copper. For practical purposes this is correct - not many of us have 24k gold rings! Even still, no matter what you have, a quick search on the internet will pull up a ton of info. I was absolutely hooked on a white gold ring and switched to platinum so I could wear it when I swim.
