Hey all, I've been lurking and reading trying to absorb some knowledge of diamonds as fast as possible. I've found a few stones that seem to be nice. I know what I want is a guaranteed eye clean diamond with I or better color(it will be set in a yellow gold setting). I'm looking for a diamond anywhere between .5 - .7 and it must be a princess cut. I wan't to get the best cut possible so i've been only looking at stones marked as "ideal". My budget is $1300 for the diamond alone. I've already picked out a beautiful $1000 setting with .5ct of sidestones(she seen it in store and was in love with it) so I don't want to comprise with that as I can always go with a bigger diamond down the road. Here are some diamonds I found #1 Price: $1040 Shape: Princess Carat weight: 0.65 Cut: Ideal Color: H Clarity: SI1 Certificate: GIA Depth: 73.2% Table: 71% Polish: Very Good Symmetry: Good Girdle: Very thin to thick Culet: None Fluorescence: None Measurements: 4.75*4.73*3.46 Ratio: 1.00 #2 Price: $1200 Shape: Princess Carat weight: 0.60 Cut: Ideal Color: H Clarity: VS1 Certificate: GIA Depth: 74% Table: 72% Polish: Very Good Symmetry: Good Girdle: Medium to very thick Culet: None Fluorescence: None Measurements: 4.7*4.54*3.36 Ratio: 1.04 #3 $1290 Shape: Princess Carat weight: 0.59 Cut: Ideal Color: G Clarity: VS1 Certificate: GIA Depth: 74% Table: 70% Polish: Excellent Symmetry: Very Good Girdle: Thick to extremely thick Culet: None Fluorescence: None Measurements: 4.63*4.53*3.35 Ratio: 1.02 Let me know what you think of each of these. Also if anyone has any better recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jake |

I don't know much about diamonds but I found another one that seemed like it could be potentially nice http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=130&item=1046116 Let me know what you think

Hey Jake and Welcome to PS!!! I see that you are a budget and there is nothing wrong with that. My only suggestion for you would be to buy from a vendor that has a lifetime upgrade policy for princess cut diamonds. I looked at GOG and they did not show anything in your price range, but WhiteFlash had several ACA princess cut diamonds in your price range and yes, I have seen the ACA princess cut diamonds in person at WhiteFlash and they are the most beautiful cut princess diamonds I have ever seen. Good Luck MWG

Wow I just looked at those diamonds you were talking about at whiteflash and those definiatly look like my best option. Now the problem is how do I decide on one of them? They all seem so similiar in the price range of $1000-$1300 What would you look for in your diamond? Like I said it will be mounted in a yellow stone so a color of H I would assume would be fine?

First of all, WhiteFlash is where I bought my (3) ACA round diamonds. I was very skeptical and concerned that WF was not what everyone here at PS raved about. Well, they are and so much more. If you are close enough to drive to Houston, then I suggest you do it. We had the diamond buying experience of a lifetime. Great return policy, great diamonds, great customer service, and lifetime upgrade policy. I am guy as well, and this all appealed to me.

I think this is the one im going to purchase. Thanks so much! If you got any more comments or opinions let me know!

First, I look for eye clean.....I will not buy a stone where I can see any inclusions of any kind in the diamond. Pick out a couple diamonds you think you would like. Call WhiteFlash and find out what they think about the diamond. If you narrow your selection down and you decide to post your specs here on Pricescope, reserve your diamond first, so no one will acccidently or intentionally steal your diamond out from under you.

Good choice! I have an ACA princess, and it's gorgeous. It sparkles like no other princess I've ever seen.
