I'm looking at a diamond's ASET right now and there is a LOT of green. It is my understanding that green is bad, correct? Or is that not necessarily true? The IS image is beautiful. I wish I dared to post the diamond, but I'm seriously considering it and I'm afraid of the lurkers stealing it from me! So, I think I'm going to hold off on posting it until it is put on hold. I will give you a hint on the shape though...in case that should be taken into consideration. Um...hmmm...."The fact is that my ex is a loser." LOL. I'm so paranoid. I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say. haha |

"Um...hmmm....'The fact is that my ex is a loser.' .....OR do you need to rearrange (your life)... btw...greens OK, moderated by red, I think, with red still desired in a greater preponderance. But I'll defer to others...especiallly Wink, even when he's lost. Ira (Ruffles have Ridges) Z. |

Green means it will not have many very strong flashes that typically come from lights in the ceiling. It will gather more of its light from windows Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |

some green is very good in some style cuts because it provides contrast. ........... Karl has joined the diamond trade and is now posting as Karl_K |

It will gather more of its light from windows So let's say you're wearing the diamond in a pendant. The ceiling and the windows will be reversed from a lighting perspective. Lots of green in say a high crown angle cushion should work very very well in a pendant in this case.

I'm still learning how to read the ASET pictures; You usually want lots of red - light return, followed by green Blue is the light blocked (equivalent to IScope's black areas) Black is the light leakage (equivalent to IScope's white areas) Oh, I understood the hints right away. Even without seeing the pics, I know the stone will be a beauty.

In a well-cut round brilliant, you hardly have any greens, but that does not mean that green is bad. In a princess for example, you will see a lot more green, but very often this is very close to the red area. Just by slightly tilting the stone in the ASET, these greens will pop to red. I believe that this will probably be the same in an X-factor. However, you do need a reasonable level of reds, so not green only. Live long, Paul Slegers |

Not really - I find shallow rounds that have more blue and red ASET lighting work much better in pendants and earrings. In such a case with a lot of green you get large bright patches and large ugly dark zones because there is only a little light that can get to the stone from above - and almost none from below and little from the sides.
