For our 20th wedding anniversary, I told my DH that I wanted a diamond ring so big the kids would fight over it when I die. We've been looking ever since and keep changing our minds! I am attaching 2 pics here- one is a christopher designs with a plain grill that I don't care for BUT I love everything else about this ring. The other one is a Simon G that I love the grillwork BUT I have to put the kids through college and can't make myself fork out the cash for a 2ct diamond. We're looking to stay under $15 for the whole thing. I want a ring big enough that it doesn't look like I'm perpetually engaged, but not mamaw's coctail ring. I am a potter and work with clay every day- what about palladium vs platinum vs white gold? Will they all wear the same considering the abuse I'll give it? I've also considered in the Simon G setting tucking a little ruby (my son's birthstone) in with the diamonds (my daughter's birthstone) Too many choices, not enough direction. Do you all know of any other designers that I might look at? Sorry I've gone on so long, but you all are a smart group and someone can help me here!

100 views and no help yet! eek. So I'll rephrase my questions. #1- is there a designer I should be looking at in addition to simon g and christopher desgins? #2- should I consider desgining the ring with my DH? #3--what about palladium vs platinum? #4- what about online jeweler vs bricks and mortar store? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks in advance. 1. There are tons of designers out there. I like looking through Pearlman's website b/c he has great photos. 2. You could but it IS time consuming and nerve racking. 3. I perfer plt for a ring. WG would be my second choice 4. I would get my diamond online. I like that I got my setting at a B&M for peace of mind. You would probably get more responses if you have the admin move your topic into RockyTalky. This is where you post your ring AFTER you get it. Good luck!

There is a list of reputable online Jewlers. Did you mean $15,000 instead of $15? What type of center stone are you looking for? In Rocky Talky I am sure people will help you since this is show me the ring. Lot's of people buy online because they can get more bang for their buck. I was exactly where you were 6 mos ago. I love my diamond and setting. Best wishes.

Hi skippy- thanks for the input- I did mean $15,000 although I wish I could get a great ring for $15! I'll look into the links you gave and I think I should move this to rocky talky when I figure out how to!

Do you have a local jewelry store that carries a lot of designer settings? Sometimes that is the best place to start. That way you can try a bunch of things on and see what you like best and what looks best on you.
