Hi there!

I started posting on PS yesterday; thought I would pop by here and introduce myself.  I'm Krissie, my boy is D., and we just got a ring last weekend!  I am waiting for the official proposal (he wants to surprise me) before I call him my fiance :)

We're both living in London; however, we both will move to the US in January 2008.  I'm originally from Kentucky, and he's British.  We'll settle down in D.C. (where I lived prior to moving to London)

We have already started planning the wedding, mainly because we are doing it long-distance.  The wedding will be in October 2008 in Louisville, KY (where my family lives).  We're looking at 225-250 guests and quite a few people have said they'll travel internationally to get there.  No pressure!!!

Anyhow, just thought I'd introduce myself!

Welcome Krissie!

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Hi Krissie! Congrats to you and your fiance on your engagement ! What a small world...I am originally from the D.C. area and now I live in the midwest about 2 hours north of Louisville. Sounds like you have a pretty interesting life! So how did you and your fiance meet? Do you like living in London so far?

I love London but it's so expensive.  We both want to start a family relatively soon and actually OWN a condo or house that's reasonably close to where we work (we are not really "suburbs"-type people).  It would be impossible to afford that on our salaries here!

I'm guessing you're in Indiana -- that's where my parents live -- right across the KY border!

It's actually a cool story how we met.  We were both in NYC on business, and we met at a hotel bar (the Parker Meridien near Central Park) very late at night when he was jetlagged, having flown in from London, and I was a wee bit tipsy!!  A couple of weeks later, I found out I was going to be sent to London with work, so we struck up an e-mail friendship that blossomed over a couple of months.  When I came here to find housing, we had lunch and looked around various neighborhoods ... and that's all she wrote!  Have been together ever since.

Thanks for asking!

Welcome, Krissie! I am an October 2008 bride as well. I bet it's such a beautiful time of year for Kentucky.

Has your soon-to-be-fiance ever lived in the States before?

Thanks!

He's never lived in the US, but he's been to NY and CA a few times.  I'm actually taking him back to Kentucky with me for the first time in July ... my parents are doing an "engagement do" for all of my family (mainly because we don't know whether we'll be back to KY before 2008!)  I think if I feed him enough bourbon he'll love it.  Actually, he's really excited about it all, I think because it's so different from what he's used to.

I'm hoping the weather will be great - usually the leaves are turning right about that time.  I'm such a dork that I just checked the average sunset as well, and the sun usually sets around 7 p.m. that time of year.  SO SO happy to meet another Oct 08 bride!
