I just received the most gorgeous sea-blue aquamarine. It's a 1.61 pear, 10mm x 7mm, unheated. I was originally thinking that I would put it in a RH ring but after seeing it in person I'm thinking it would make a beautiful pendant. Help! How would you set this baby?   [more pics to come ]

This one was taken in bright direct light and it looks like a totally different stone.

Beautiful stone!!!  I could see a lariat y-style pendant.  It would be lovely.  Pears are really gorgeous as earrings and pendants.

Whoa! Look at that aqua sparkle!!! Love it Catmom ! I totally agree with the pendant idea, definitely in a white metal.

I'd do a pendant.

I love aquas and this one is a beauty!  What a nice color of blue.  I'd do a ring just so you can look at it more when you are wearing it.  It'd be gorgeous in a pendant though too.

Congratulations on a great gem!

I would do a ring because I think it is a size most suited to a ring, and you could look at it all the time.  Very beautiful stone, and perfect cutting!!

It is so beautiful! I love pear shape necklaces (though you just got a new beauty). Maybe a thin diamond micropave halo?

Beautiful aqua.  I have been looking for a beautiful aqua for many years, what with my March birthday, and all.  Most are waaay too washed out looking, or windowy, to interest me.  I'd set it in a ring or a pendant, whatever you think you would wear the most.

Thanks everyone!! I'm really torn as to how to set it. I think it would be beautiful as a pendant but then I would never get to see it. I just don't know............

That is one gorgeous aquamarine, can't wait to see how you have it set.  Maybe ask Irina for some design ideas, she is sooo good at it!!

That's a stunning aquamarine. I think it would make a lovely ring, maybe set east-west.

Beautiful stone!  Just beautiful!!

I second the diamond pave halo!!  Leon Mege had a pair of halo'd round Aquamarine dangle earrings in his "For sale" section and the wonderful contrast between the blue and the white diamond halo was marvelous!

It would be something unexpected, especially with your stone that has such a great cut and color, which I think is VERY hard to find in Aqua's!

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be stunning!

Thanks so much, everyone!! I'm really glad that you like my aqua and I agree that it really needs to have diamonds with it to spark up the color.

Holy smokes it's beautiful!  The cut, the color, and the shape!!!  It would make a fabulous pendant.    I don't know why, but I want to halo every single aqua I see.  LOL.

Hi Catmon.  I've been thinking of your beautiful aqua so I wore my aquas today.  They are sky blue, nothing like your sea-blue aquamarine but I enjoyed having them on today.  I actually saw a stone with this color in a mall jewelry store a few years ago and didn't buy it.  I have definitely regretted that decision.  It was a beauty like yours.

Catmom, that stone is just stunning. Truly.

I'd personally halo it for a RHR.
