Are the table and depth reversed? If not it looks shallow by the numbers. With a cushion/fancy cut you really need to see the stone to see if it works. You can't just go by the numbers. It also helps if you can get out and look at ALOT of cushions before picking the final one. That way you'll know what you like and what you don't. Hard to find cushions in some stores but go to many many many stores and try them on. I almost picked a shallow cushion 'cause I loved the setting but I didn't love the stone. The one I have now has wonderful facets and really sparkles. Please search PS for cushions and look at all the photos.

By the numbers, I would say a big no. But fancies really need to be seen with the eyes. You need to see as many as you can and THEN make a decision on which one LOOKS the best visually to you. On this one what is the polish and symmetry? Both are VERY VERY important with cushions. Try to go for Ex/Ex if it's a modern stone. Unless it's reversed, the table is obscenely big in this stone. Table should be mid 50's with depth in mid 60's.

I have tried to take pictures of the diamond but I can't seem to get a clear picture from my digital camera. It is a beautiful diamond. It is shallow but the table size makes the diamond appear much larger than 2.25. What is the reason for wanting the diamond depth larger?

Have you SEEN other cushions with deeper specs to compare? Usually shallow cushions just look a bit dull and lifeless sometimes. The lack of depth just means that the light doesn't reflect as nicely, so it often looks dull. But if you saw it, you feel comfortable with it, and you LOVE it. Then you should get it. But I would only buy it if I had seen many other cushions before and KNEW that this one was special.

Date: 6/18/2007 4:42:52 PM Just a matter of preference... When cut correctly...Author: erlo33 I have tried to take pictures of the diamond but I can't seem to get a clear picture from my digital camera. It is a beautiful diamond. It is shallow but the table size makes the diamond appear much larger than 2.25. What is the reason for wanting the diamond depth larger? Deeper Cushions have the sculpture effect when a significant percentage of the weight is located on the crown side (sticking out of the mounting...) Shallower Cushions (when cut correctly!!!) show more surface (larger illusion) and still can be gorgeous Gems. But do be carefull..., Its a Cushion Jungle out there. ********************** |
