my FSIL has asked me if i'd like my flower girl (her daughter) to wear all white or have a matching sash and if the ring bearer (her son) should wear a tux?

i have no clue! what's the traditional way and which looks cleanest for pictures? or does it not matter?

It's up to you. Also kind of depends on the ages of the kids.

I'm not really into the white dresses for FGs, and since my dress isn't white, I'm putting the FGs in light blue. It still sets them apart because the BMs are wearing navy. Yes, my colors are BLUE and BLUE.

My RB will wear a tux, but he's 6 so he's old enough to pull it off plus the rental place has one in his size. A 1 year old in a tux...well... you can't rent one that size! My RB wore one when he was 3 and he was ADORABLE, now he'll just be cute. Oh, and if you're putting a bout on your RB, either get an extra or wait till the VERY last minute.

I had my flower girl in a white dress with blue flowers to match the bridesmaids. I never really got the point of the flower girl in an exact match of the bride's dress, it almost takes away from the bride. A white dress with a colored ash would be pretty though.

My little brother was my ring bearer, he was 7, and wore the same tux as the guys. For a younger child, black pants and a white shirt looks cute too.

It really depends on what you like. There are so many different styles for flower girls.

My flower girl wore a simple white dress (it was actually a first communion dress), and the seamstress who made the bridesmaids' dresses made a wide sash for her out of the same fabric. It was very pretty and appropriate for a little girls.

I usually see ring bearers in suits/tuxedos to match the groomsmen. I really love the little suits with short pants on small boys, but I'm old fashioned that way.

I was just in a wedding a few weeks ago, and the flower girl wore a white (off white?) dress with a sash that was the same color as our dresses....I'll see if I can post a picture...

(I am the one standing directly behind the flower girl...not the best photo but oh well=)

I have 5 flower girls:

1 dark haired aged 12
2 blonde aged 9 and 7
1 dark aged 4.5 and
1 blonde aged 4

I'm thinking of putting them in ivory cotton dresses with coloured silk sashes - maybe all different tones of the same colour.
I'm probably going to get something more junior bridesmaid for the 12 year old.

I saw a really cute idea in a wedding magazine here where the bride had put the page boys in cricket whites (white trousers and shirts with gym shoes and then white v neck jumpers with the blue V) It looked really lovely for an english country wedding.

As my family are originally scottish, my brother and male cousins have worn little kilts when they were kids - they looked nice too.
