My diamond is very snug in the basket head, and I am afraid the side bars on the basket may be resting against the sides of the pavilion of the diamond. I can't get anything between that area when I clean the ring. I think I read it was bad for the diamond to be touching the head or crown like this. Any jewelers or appraisers around tonight? I did not want to change this setting until I found my dream setting, but it worries me that this might not be safe for my diamond. Thanks!

With thirty seven years on the bench, I can't say that I am aware of any problem with this.

Oh, that is such a relief! It is a really pretty setting and I did not want to have to rush to replace it yet. Thanks so much!

I am glad it worked out! now go back to my WG thread and give me some advice or at least console me about the 400 dollar price hike from F SI1 to EVS2...I mean I will def get a weekend job when I get back, and probably try to get one that I can work for a couple evenings during the week--thus it won't hurt me too much. but still...

sorry to jack your thread, but it already had a happy ending
