how long is your honeymoon going to be? |

just wondering how long your honeymoon will be. I want to stay in hawaii for 13 days but fiance thinks it too long and we might get bored

Ha! Bored in Hawaii sounds awful like an oxymoron   I say if you can afford it, go as looooooooooong as you can :)We wanted a 2 week honeymoon but really couldn't afford that and one week seemed just too short for some reason (when we take our yearly vacations they are always 7 days so it's probably a result of being used to that amount of time and always feeling like we wished we could stay longer). However we booked our one-week honeymoon in Aruba and were perfectly happy with that in the end and felt fortunate to be able to swing it at all. Then, the hotel I work at (Hyatt) brought back our employee discount about 3 months after booking our Aruba trip (we get a HUGE discount on rooms) and the first thing I wanted to do was switch hotels from the Occidental to the Hyatt but FI REALLY wanted the all-inclusive option at the Occidental so I didn't press it. As a compromise, since we are flying out of JFK anyway and we live in RI, we were going to have to stay up there anyhow as our flight leaves early in the morning, I was able to squeeze in 2 more nights in NYC at the Grand Hyatt. I'm so excited that now we have a 9 night honeymoon AND we get to do some touristy stuff in New York before we head of to paradise. The best part is that now we only have to wait 4 days after our wedding until we get to leave on our honeymoon!!! (I only wanted to wait 2 days in the begining to give us time to hang out with lingering guests and arrange the house etc but due to flight costs, it was better to fly out 6 days later). Sorry so long but I'm just so excited about how that all turned out. So the short answer is: 9 days

I just got back from a 14-day trip to Hawaii (2 days of travel though, so 12 days there) and it was barely enough to satisfy me If you've never been, I highly recommend Island-hopping. There is just so much to see and do (and NOT do, if that's your preference  ).We have no idea how long ours will be yet because it's so far away (Oct '08)... our destination will also sort of depend on how much time we have (if we can only get a week--or less--off work, we don't want to try to do our top choice of New Zealand... there just isn't enough time!)

Gosh, I would LOVE to spend 13 days somewhere. FI and I are honeymooning for a week because that is what we can afford and because we are thinking our house will be ready just a few days after we get back, and we are eager to get packed and move in! Our honeymoon is probably going to be a week or less, cause our jobs don't allow the option of taking more than a week off at a time.  I could definitely spend that much time somewhere, but I think I'd like to move around once or twice. Try a different island, a different hotel or something so you don't end up repeating stuff too much.

Our honeymoon is just a week, but we are also taking off the week before the wedding because it is in my hometown so we have to travel and then finish up the last minute stuff... so all in all I'll be taking 2 and a half weeks off work. I wish it was all going to be basking in the sun, but for one, I couldn't afford 14 days in a resort, and though it sounds impossible, I probably would want to just get home probably by day 9. I like my trips short and sweet. But then I've never had the option to spend 2 weeks in Hawaii! As long as you aren't just staying at the resort and are island-hopping, I'm sure it would be wonderful!

My FI is planning on taking 2 weeks off for the honeymoon (I'm finished teaching for the summer), and I'm assuming we'll need a day or two before the wedding to do last minute stuff. I like the idea of going on a honeymoon for 7-10 days and then still having some time to unwind, unpack, and take it easy before my FI has to return to work. Those buffer days will be needed I think. I hate coming back from a vacation and having to go back to work the next day. I'm sure my FI is the same way. So, have I actually answered the question?

We're hoping for about 12 days, but it depends on our destination and our schedules. We're graduate students and since we're getting married in October, we obviously can't leave school for 2 weeks in the middle of the semester for our honeymoon. So we'll probably go in December/January.

one week. We wanted a longer one, but fi has only been working at his job for a year and had to save up vacation time to visit parents during Xmas as well.

Ours was a week and for us it was the perfect amount of time. We also had a week between our wedding and honeymoon (to attend his friend's wedding the weekend after ours).

We're doing 3 days or so straight after the wedding and 2 weeks later in the year as the weather isn't great in Sri Lanka in August. FBIL and his FI are going on honeymoon for 3 months! I'm not sure I could cope spending so long living out of a suitcase! European companies seems to be much more generous on the holidays. We each get 6 weeks a year plus all statutory days (bankholidays, xmas etc) which is about another 10 days. My firm always give us another few days at xmas as a present. The best was Italy - 6 weeks plus statutory (about another 18 days) and if you get married you get another 2 weeks for your honeymoon and the man gets a payrise! They all thought I was very odd for thinking that was rather sexist!

We married on Sunday, basked at the day-after glow on Monday and finished packing for trip. We flew out Tuesday morning; stayed in SF until Saturday afternoon; then flew to Vegas. Stayed in Vegas from Saturday eve. until Wednesday morning; flew home. Then we had Thursday through Sunday to relax at home together before going back to work. The two-week break was FABULOUS, and I'd do again in a minute. You don't realize HOW tired you get with all the details leading up to the big event, and it's nice to have that time on the other side to just enjoy each other and decompress.

You will not get bored in Oahu. . . trust me. You can shop, eat, snorkel, see so many sights there. There is the cultural polynesian center, hike Diamond head, drive to the North shore, visit Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial, snorkel Hanauma Bay, snorkel Ko olina Lagoons, go to Lanikai beach, visit China Town and the list goes on. Arm yourself w/the Oahu Reavealed book http://www.wizardpub.com/oahu/oahu.html. Our honeymoon was 2 1/2 weeks. I think 2 weeks in Oahu is perfect; you will love it

we are honeymooning for 3 weeks in europe! i don't think boredom will be an issue in Hawaii--relax a few days upon arrival, island hop a few days, do a bike tour another, shop another, laz on the beach for a day..etc. etc. it'll go by quickly!

We are honeymooning in Maui for 10 days! I'm NOT worried about being bored whatsoever - we are staying at the Four Seasons, so I'm looking forward to being pampered and doing absolutely nothing! We are getting married on a Saturday and leaving the Tuesday after the wedding since a lot of my FI's family are coming in from Europe and he wanted to spend some extra time with them before we go away. I'm happy for that since it will give me time to pack and get things in order after the wedding. We are returning the following Friday so, we'll have Sat. and Sun. to unwind before going back to work. I love it! You also have to figure that 2 of those days will be for travel. So, really you'll only be in Hawaii for 11 days.

12 days for us.... we got married in my hometown on a Saturday, had a big brunch for everyone on Sunday, spent Monday going through presents and relaxing, headed back to Philly (where we live) on Tuesday to do some laundry and pack.... then flew down to St. Lucia bright and early Wednesday morning!  Then we stayed through the following Sunday. It was the perfect length of time for us... at that point, we were sad that we had to leave, but excited to get back home again.
