Hi everyone!  This site has been so wonderful in helping me choose a diamond, but I still have trouble bringing it all together (table, crown, pavillion, etc.)  I was wondering if someone can help me out in choosing the engagement ring.  My girlfriend loves Tiffany's, and I want to get her what she loves and from everything I've read on this forum about Tiffany's is that usually you won't get the best diamond you could find but I still want to try.  Here are the stats of some Diamonds I've narrowed down.  Thanks again for all your help!

Choice 1:
1.08 ct, F color, VS2
Cut, symmetry, polish all excellent
Total Depth    62.6%
Table Size       55%
Crown Angle   35.3
Pavillion Depth 42.8%
Flourescence: Faint
Culet: None

Choice 2:
1.09 ct, G color, VS2
Cut - excellent
Symmetry, Polish - Good
Total Depth    60.4%
Table Size       55%
Crown Angle   34
Pavillion Depth 42.7%
Flourescence: Faint
Culet: Very Small

Choice 3:
1.02 ct, F color, VS2
Cut - excellent
Symmetry, polish - very good
Total Depth    61.4%
Table Size       55%
Crown Angle   34.5
Pavillion Depth 43.2%
Flourescence: None
Culet: Very Small

Choice 4:
1.08 ct, G color, VS2
Cut, symmetry, polish all excellent
Total Depth    62.3%
Table Size       56%
Crown Angle   35.3
Pavillion Depth 43%
Flourescence: None
Culet: None

I'm no expert, but I'm always happy to share an opinion!

All of these score well on the HCA, so I don't think you can go too wrong with any of them.  All things being equal, I would go for one of the G VS2s because it will probably save you some $ and you won't notice the difference.

Just to throw this out there (although I'm sure you already know), you can get a slightly better diamond for WAY less if you buy online.  Whiteflash and Good Old Gold offer great stones with upgrade policies.  I'm guessing that these rings are somewhere around $15k(??)- for that, you can get a 1.5ct ACA from WF with a Tiffany-style setting.  Only you know if the brand is more important to your girl than the size... I'm sure she will love either one!  Lucky girl!

they are all HCA approved.  so the only distinctions, really, is the polish and symmetry.

You might elminate #2 for the good grades.

I can't help you divine one from the other, but by running the numbers, I can say all look good...maybe especially 1,3 & 4, and #2's not too shabby.  Since you post no $, I can say I like both F & G VS2, definitely.

Also, consider as an option frequently mentioned here Signed Pieces, I believe a vendor dealing with formerly worn pieces from Tiffany, but the genuine article.

Also, to check future options for yourself, just use this (as I just did).  Try to get angles for pavilion, which it's understood gets you a more finely grained read.

Wow thanks for the speedy reply, if there was a contest for friendliest forum, it would be awarded to pricescope and it's members.

BigDiamonds:
Good idea about going with the G VS2 to save some money and you are correct that all these rings are in the 15K range.  I wanted to go with WF or GOG, but my girlfriend just loves Tiffanys  so that is what I want to get her.

JulieN:
Thanks for your opinion and I made a typo for choice 2, the polish and symmetry are rated very good, not good.

Regular Guy:
Thanks for your help, all these rings are around the same price range 14000-15000.  I've been looking at signedpieces actually, but I'd rather not get her a second hand ring.  Also I tried to get the pavilion angles, but Tiffany's doesn't list them , they only list them for some diamonds.. I don't know why, I should ask them the the next time I go in.

Well, if I were your girlfriend, and I had a 5.5 ring size... or if Tiffany could size this one for me... I'd want you to save the 5K for an eternity band for me to wear with that engagement ring.... so I'd want you to get me this ring. I would give her the choice and just ask her if she'd be okay with a second hand ring. Cause 5K would be a lot of extra bling.

Personally I'd want the choice of how to spend the 15K. Just me, maybe, but there it is.
