Hi there, It may be quicker to call your customs. I double checked with Singapore customs before I ordered anything just to make sure. If you are going to be paying 17.5% and are making a large purchase it maybe worth a weekend trip. It maybe a cute way of working it into the proposal. Love until it hurts. Real love is always painful and hurts then it is real and pure. |

Hi Jim, I'm in Ireland and I think VAT on luxury goods is 21%? There were a few threads here on PS before about people in Ireland buying from abroad and shipping and so on, I searched some of them out for you: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=8904 http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=22313 http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=7887 (last post deals with shipping to Ireland) http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=61325 Do a search in the Forums and you'll find lots of useful stuff! Good luck! ![]()

I'm in England and I paid 20% - 17.5% was VAT and 2.5% was for it being Platinum/White Gold and Diamond jewellery. I think Fedex also added £30 on for handling it. My package was shipped by WF on the Tuesday and it arrived at my house on the Friday. It came into the country on the Thursday. I called Fedex twice on that morning to get them to hurry up and let me know the charges so I could get the package on its way again. I paid with my debit card over the phone. 3 days isn't bad really

I work in a high end jewellers and the stuff we sell isn't very nice at all. I would say average at best. We have some certificated stuff but even that is not high quality

Wouldn't you just die to have some great product and be able to educated consumers and sell the great stuff at the same time. Most high end jewellers here have access to high net worth individuals that plonk down a lot of dough based on trust and established relationships. The best clients I guess. Makes me wanna cry ...to not know, or care if you are being sliced and diced in terms of price. Love until it hurts. Real love is always painful and hurts then it is real and pure. |
