Hi! So if you are from Maine or live in Maine, you are probably familiar with Marden's surplus store - the store where you never know what you are going to find when you go in (it is kind of like big lots, but it seems even more random). They have clothing, furniture, flooring, decorations, pretty much anything. I went into the one in Waterville, (Central) Maine, yesterday, and they had wedding dresses for $50.00. I went knowing they were there, but not really knowing what to expect. Well, I walked out with a Paloma Blanca, silk satin beautiful wedding dress. For $52.50 total, with an original price tag of $2300!! I did some internet research (a ton) and think the dress is from 2004, but am not 100%. But I do not think it looks dated. The dresses were your typical sample sizes and mine is a 10, and surprisingly not super big. (i'm a 2 in normal clothes). They all would need a good cleaning of course, but really - $50 is crazy! So I know there aren't many Mainers on here, but if anyone is in the area, thought I'd pass the info on! If you go to their website (mardensurplus.com) you can find their locations. I don't know if all locations received wedding dresses, but it might be worth a call if you're near one of the other onees! I saw paloma blancas, eden bridals, and some other brands I hadn't necessarily heard of, but were 100% silk dresses. And because I love seeing other people's pictures, I've attached one...I'm pulling the waist back so it fits better...it's an off-white color. Hope that helps someone! |

Gorgeous! What a great find! I'm not in the Maine area, but my family is from there. Maybe I should send my mom up there before all the good ones are taken.

Thanks everyone! I think it is beautiful...but I have to add that this is my second dress. The first dress I bought on ebay for $100 - an old Diamond Bride discontinued style. It is very pretty as well (silk and alencon lace), but it is more form-fitting and I just don't feel comfortable in it right now. (specifically, the hip area!) So I have two gorgeous silk dresses, total of about $150 spent, and haven't decided which one I'm going to wear! (or if I'm going to wear both!!) I have about 5.5 months till the wedding...so hopefully I can stop looking for these deals!!!

Wow - Paloma Bianca is a very good name! What an incredible find! The dress looks absolutely divine! You are right - I recently tried on one of those $2K Paloma Bianca dresses. It was actually $2600. 100% silk. PB has great designs and it looks like you found one of them. ![]() Ok, so doing the math, you got 97.8% off the original price - WOW! I can hardly believe this was only $50. It's almost worth buying the plane ticket and paying for a hotel room for the deal. Unbelievable! Congrats! You can buy more diamonds with all the money you've saved.

Danielle There were two racks, both sides full. BUT, I only tried on 4 total. There were a lot of long-sleeved, beaded, laced numbers that reminded me of something from the 80s. So it wasn't ALL the $2000 dresses...it's like anything at Marden's - you just have to take time to look through everything!! You should call the Lewiston one and see if they got any! Hey - I thought you got a dress on ebay?
