I opened two giant boxes full of invitations last night and realized that they don't have the "Reception to follow" line. Do I go through getting them reprinted? Do I have a reception insert card printed? (I used the reception card for the website card.) The ceremony and the reception are at the same place, only a few feet apart. Do you think the guests will realize the invitation is for everything or think they're only invited to the ceremony without some sort of printed reference to the reception?

I'm fairly certain it was their error and not mine, but it's possible that I merely thought I put it in.

I'd just add a reception card instead of reprinting.  It's best to assure the guests in print that they're invited to the reception as well.

Do you have any kind of paper trail of the order that you can follow to figure out who made the error? If you did request the line and the printer failed to include it, I would request they fix the error, whether it be with a reprinting or adding a 2nd insert card. If the error was your own and it won't kill your budget too badly you could have the 2nd card printed at your expense. Or, maybe you could just neatly handwrite it in yourself?

I do think it's important to let your guests know there is a reception. Wouldn't want any ruined appetites or other plans made on the assumption the wedding is just a ceremony and only a 1-2 hour commitment.

I have an e-proof on my laptop at home. Must check it tonight. They also forgot to include the vellum wraps and they said they would send those this week so maybe my order didn't get the attention it deserved.

There are 550 invitations so I will NOT be writing it in!

Do you have a proof? If it is their error, they should correct the problem. We had someone else's reception info printed on the back of our response cards. Took them back in the morning and had a new set the next afternoon. We used a B&M store that ordered them from a large invitation company though. Either way, their error, they pay and correct it!

I cant say I have ever been to a wedding that didnt have a reception regardless if they mentioned it on the invite. Its something I assume, but we all know what that does...

Can you DIY a reception card?

I just looked at my invoice and they charged me for the corner text ($6) so it must be on the proof.... it's an e-order thing, so it automatically adds it on there.

I think, if it's their fault afterall, it would probably be best just to have it reprinted. I don't want to add another insert since I already have the web card and the rsvp, but then... I already have 550 of these ecru babies sitting in my living room! I guess it will make for good scratch paper!

If it is their error, by all means request the invites be reprinted.  If it wasn't their error, I'd do a DIY reception insert.

YAY! My proof says "Reception Follows". I pdf'ed it and saved it to my desktop instead of printing it, so I just attached it to my email to the company requesting a reprint. It feels good to know that at least I'm not the cause!

It took a while to hear back, but they just told me the reprint was in progress with sincere apologies.

And now I have 550 sheets of ecru scratch paper! Our grocery lists are going to be FANCY.
