Hi.

I was curious if anyone knows of any sites that have consumer reviews of good old gold? I've been looking around but haven't been able to find much. I've seen the testimonials on their site, but places like yahoo shopping, epubliceye, epinions all have nothing on this company. Does anyone know why or where I could find some reviews? Or have you personally bought something there? How would you rate their company from helpfulness in general to shipping time to accuracy of descriptions etc.?

Any help would be awesome!

type in Goodoldgold in the search box here and you'll get more threads than you'll have time to read.

I have never purchased from them but have been in contact on occasion and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them at all. I'm sure folks will chime in with their experiences for you.

Agree with mrssalvo. Good old Gold is one of the most trusted vendors here on PS. And that says A LOT because thousands of people traffic through here every week.

I made my first (rather sizable) internet purchase with them. They are great to work with, very friendly and helpful.

As others have said, search on here to get an idea. I would definitely recommend them.

"It is also important for the State to inculcate in its subjects an aversion to any 'conspiracy theory of history' for a search for 'conspiracies' means a search for motives and an attribution of responsibility for historical misdeeds."

-Murray N. Rothbard, in The Anatomy of the State

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

I was a customer of GOG in 2003.  I purchase a Jubilee (see my avatar) and trusted them enough to even bankwire my money for the diamond.  The staff is knowledgeable and curteous.  The diamond was as they claimed (with all the necessary paperwork and gamut of reports) and shipping was a breeze.  If I recall correctly, it was Fedex overnight.

GOG has a strong reputation here and a search on PS will bring up tons of reviews on them.

When I started reading forums in 1997 GoodoldGold was one of about 3 diamond sites mentioned and they were the only one who had an educational section and showed their diamonds in magnified pictures to show the inclusions.  That was in 1997 so at least that tells you they have been around for 10 years.  I have never bought anything from them but have seen many many people do so.  Rhino who posts on this forum is Jonathon from GoodoldGold who I believe is the son of the owners or an owner himself, not sure. He is very educated about diamonds and is a Gemologist.

We bought the diamond in my avatar from Good Old Gold in 2006. Jonathan has the highest integrity and loves diamonds! He is diligently working on videos to teach about diamond quality to post on his site. My experiences with Good Old Gold have been excellent and I would recommend them highly!

I haven't bought from GOG ... YET, but I have been in touch with Jonathan about something I'd like to do and he wasn't just EXTREMELY helpful and straightforward, he was also funny and just plain nice too. I asked a lot of questions and he answered them in detail and replied to my e-mails quickly.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him, and particularly given his reputation around here on PS.

I've never bought from them, but I definitely would given the many many good reviews here, beautiful diamonds, and wonderful service that people have reported.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I guess it was my bad not to do a thorough search on PS first. I just found it kind of curious that no reviews had been posted outside of PS and would've liked to read some. Judging by the overwhelming positivity, though, it looks like they're definitely a good option to go with.

The reason why I'm asking, of course, is that I'm considering them for a sale as well. I just wanted to get some feedback on this issue to make me breathe a little easier before I take further steps :)

Thanks again!

You'll be in the best of hands, I promise! It was scary for all of us the first time (buying diamonds on the internet), I assure you! But that is a family owned jewelry store in NY that was in business before internet shopping came along!  I wish I trusted my local jewelers as much as I trust Jonathan. Please show us what you decide on! (But always put things on hold before asking opionions here, because stones do get snapped up by others sometimes!)

I recently (last week to be exact) purchased a stone and setting from GOG, and it's beautiful.  I have learned alot about diamonds here on PS and on GOG's website, but now all I need to know is to call Jonathan...He is conscientious, knowledgable, reputable, honest, patient beyond measure and lots of fun!!  My husband and I are all about Good Old Gold!!!  I recommend Jonathan and Good Old Gold without reservation.
