Ok, I've been looking online at at local shops here for WAY too long now. two nights ago I found 'Scott Kay' and absolutely love 95% of his designs. I've found a few by Richard Krementz and Verragio that are simular and equally beautiful but I think Scott Kay has more of the same type of style that I REALLY like. I have yet to find any stores within 50 miles that carry Scott Kay from where I live on the IA/IL border. I like the search ability on pricescope to do detailed searches HCA but GOG, James Allen, Whiteflash, etc don't seam to carry Scott Kay settings. I know I want color of G-H because the stones rated as 'I' I've seen look yellowish and G seams clear so why get something better. I know I want SI1 or perhaps SI2/SI3 because I honestly can't see the inperfections in SI1 and I'm pretty sure my girlfriend won't be able to either. Floresence doesn't bother me. I know she'd like about a carot but I've been looking at .85 on up in size figuring again... depending on the cut it's hard to tell the difference in my eyes. To me, I want the ring to catch my eye and shine so I've been focusing on Pricescopes HCA/polish/semetry ratings hoping that a better cut will have that sparkle I desire. Depending on the night and search over the last 4 months this gives me diamonds in the $2700 to $4100 range with my goal to stay under $5000 with setting. Any advise on one or more stores that can give me the setting I want and still give me internet pricing on stones? I found Dimend today that look to carry Scott Kay but they are only found on Pricescope in forum. Pearlmans carries Scott Kay but has VERY little diamond sellection on their site. I'm not sold on getting a 'brand name ring' I just really really like the sittings from scott Kay I've seen I am frustrated and need HELP!! Sincerely, loosing my hair

Well you can always buy the setting from Pearlmans and ship to whomever you decide to buy the diamond from and have them set it. You don't have to buy the diamond and setting from the same place. Or just ask Pearlmans' to find whatever you are looking for in terms of a diamond, even if it's not listed on their website.

Welcome to PS![]() One thing I would like to point out is that SI3 is an EGL created and used grade only and you can't guarantee this grade will be eyeclean. If another lab was to grade such a diamond it would probably be an I1. You are right in focusing on cut, this is what makes a diamond beautiful, that is great that you have done your homework and know what colour grades are right for you too. I am hoping some of the other veteran PSers can help you regarding the setting. Perhaps you could purchase your setting and diamond from different sources? ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be... - Stephanie M Thorn |
