Well that was weird...my apologies to everyone who just saw my blank post! Anyway...I have recently become infatuated with colored stones. It seems that most people here buy loose, and that seems to give the best selection. Who do you guys recommend for setting these beautiful colored stones? I have Leon Mege in mind for my dream ring, but are there other recommended vendors that are a little more affordable? Thanks!!

There are many options: 1. New stock setting from catalogs like Adwar and Stuller that your local jeweller can order and set. 2. New reproduction settings or modern ones from online retailers 3. Used or preowned from online retailers (like Pearlmans and etc) 4. Custom settings from a local jeweller

Also check Solmon brothers closeouts. That is where I got my setting for half the price. Best wishes.

I buy my settings either in ebay.search mountings, or www.alphaimports.com.

I stumbled upon a Richard Krementz setting on Pearlman's website for a great deal. Now I need to decide on a stone!

You never know what you will find at your local jeweler. I found a closeout on a setting that would put Tacori to shame, with .80 of pave diamonds all over it and much better crafted than Tacori. It was an awesome price (Tacori would be 5 times the price for the same setting). It's always good to shop around even though brick and mortar stores tend to have bogus sales that are 50% off 364 days of the year. I also found a HEAVY platinum and diamond setting at C.D. Peacock for only $500 (it was in the store a long time and on closeout). Good luck!! |
