Like Nicrez, I take 'mental' vacations. Please post some pretty pictures.

Here's one of Phuket.

We visited before the tsunami, in 2002, and after the tsunami, in 2005. It's getting (got?) too commercialised but it's still a beautiful place. First time we stayed at the Rayavadee (incredible!) and the second time at Amanpuri (overrated).

Here's a rather dull one of the Turks and Caicos Club. Cute little place, and much easier to get into than Parrot Cay, which seems like it's booked up forever in advance.

Another Thailand one, this taken on the grounds of the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai, which is probably the most superlative hotel I've stayed at. And that's it, I'm afraid, as all my other vacation snaps from previous years are non-digital.

This coming year, we're going to Costa Rica and Amalfi, and already I've started drooling over pictures. Italy has to be my favourite place in the entire world.

Crown 1,
Not really bling. Just recycling project 2.

Ursula,
Gorgeous pictures! I've been drooling over the Amanresorts. Why was the one in Phuket overrated? Btw, maybe we'll bump into each other on the Amalfi Coast this summer.

I'm afraid we never take pictures (too lazy). So here are some links (the hotels' are better at it than we are).

Oooh, the Four Seasons Maldives! Lucky you, Harriet. As for the Amanpuri, it was nice, sure, but no more than any hotel in that category and certainly not worth the inflated room rates. Perhaps I was put off by the so-so food, and the surrounding locale wasn't all that impressive (save for the beach).

I never thought about posting links to hotels. Here are a few of the nicer ones DH and I have stayed at over the years.

Reid's Palace, Madeira
Hotel Danieli, Venice
Excelsior, Venice Lido
St Regis, Rome
Le Meurice, Paris (and Costes, Paris)
Lanesborough, London (where I got married )
Dromoland Castle, Ireland
Villa Vedema, Santorini
Penninsula, Bangkok

Come on Skippy!

You don't want me over here.  I will never study.  I am taking a break.  I was taking the online quizzes.

Travelling is my huge weakness I love it.  Next break I will post hotels. heehe

Back to my quiz.

Gosh, reading that and looking at your dogs!  Your killing me.  Okay, here goes.

I really am not into the hotel thing.  We stayed at nice ones but I love the exeriences of the cities; we were up at 6 and to bed by 11pm and that was our choice; we did not do a tour group thing.  We enjoyed the restaurants and shopping, cathedrals and art.

Lake Como  http://www.palacehotel.it/albergo/en_a_albergo.asp
In Venice; the rooms were kind of small but they were so nice; they had a bottle of champane waiting for us when we arrived.  http://cavalletto.hotelinvenice.com/
In Florence http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=43
Rome http://www.nazionaleroma.it/
Capri (I think this is the hotel by the lemon/orange park)  eta: wrong hotel this is the right one.  http://www.royalsorrento.com/

I will add the other trips later

Skippy
