Ok I know you hear from me a lot but I am buying the diamond next week so I need help yet again!

I have decided on my setting so what I need to work out is if it will look good with a .50ct stone.  Its going to be a plain shank with 18 x 1.1 aca in halo.

If I am honest we can comfortably afford a .50ct stone.  It will be approx 5.2mm diameter.  We could push things and go for a .70ct stone but it would be harder to afford.

I suppose I just want it to look really stunning - do you think you can get that effect with a smaller diamond?  Will the diamond be noticible in a Halo setting?  I am assuming WF won't use too heavy a halo as that wouldn't look right........

i think a .5 would be fine in a halo.

I think a 0.5 will look gorgeous in a delicate halo . . . good luck Maisie . . . can't wait to see it.

I am sure it will look very nice no matter what you choose, Maisie...

But why .5 or .7? Is that based on WF's inventory? Because otherwise I would suggest splitting the difference and looking around .6!

Thank you Julie and Hikerchick!  Its great to get other peoples opinion

I think its probably better to stay within our budget, its just so tempting to try and reach for a bigger diamond!

They don't seem to have anything inbetween .... I've looked.  I would rather keep everything with Whiteflash if I can.  Ideally around .60 would be nicer!

Will it be prong set or bezel set? Honestly I doubt the size differnce will be very noticable. Didn't someone on here say that less than a mm isn't destinguishable by the human eye? I think the difference in 0.5 and 0.7 is just about half a mm.

I think I have settled on G.  I have a G at the minute and I think its a good colour for me.  I don't think I would drop as far as a K.  Thank you for looking though.  I really appreciate the help.

I'm not sure yet, I am leaning towards bezel so I can protect the stone for when I can upgrade

Well, that at least explains the jump! When you talk to them I would just ask if they anticipate anything coming in that would be more a more ideal size for YOU.

But, like I said before, you have nothing to worry about with a .5 stone-- it's going to be great!

I think I am just panicking because its getting so close.  I wonder if other people behaved like this when they bought their rings......

It depends - If I have a bezel setting I won't be able to do anything with it.  They told me it would have to be destroyed to get the diamond out again.
If I have prongs I would like to put a colored gemstone in.  Thats if its possible

I think a .50 will look smashing in your halo setting.  The halo does make it look bigger.  I can't wait till your ring is finished maisie!!!

It's going to be bootiful.
