My husband is finally giving me a budget to work with for my new diamond ring. So, I'm debating. I really at this point just want a pretty ring! Which of these would you chose?A: A three stone ring in 18K white gold featuring this in the center: http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_60ct_g_vvs2_h&a.htm B: A three stone ring in 18K white gold with two small .20 emerald cut diamonds on either side of this stone: http://www.goodoldgold.com/emerald_1_00ct_g_vvs1.htm C: Or, for sheer size, this stone in a nice solitaire 18K white gold setting: http://www.goodoldgold.com/princess_1_22ct_h_vs2.htm I actually like all three. A & B seem to catch my fancy more though. --------------------- Cass AIM: MaidenFromMordor |

If the Emerald is still there when we're ready to make the purchase, I think I may go for it. :P For some reason that just really tickles my fancy. The question for opinions still stands though! I'm curious what everyone else would pick. --------------------- |

Hi Cassandra-I would choose option A just for my own personal preference. Emerald cut stones are unique in their own way. I tend to prefer the better light return and output the the round hearts & arrows stones project. 3 hard choices though. Jonathan has an extended inventory and might be able to match the side stones as well for the 3 stone ring listed as option A. Put those three together and what a sparkle fest with these stones side by side. Thanks for letting usgive you some input. Whatever you decide I'm sure they will be beautiful. I have personally dealt with Jonathan and he is first class. See ya Later- Josh Rioux Sitka, Alaska

Oooh how fun..an upgrade. Well I'm not a big fan of the 3 stone round look, so I would choose a solitaire or the emerald cut...esp if you have already had a round brilliant e-ring for the last however many years, the emerald cut could be a nice change from the round look! I really like emerald cuts in the 3 stone setting when they are all set long side down (e.g. [][][]) obviously with the larger being the center and the two side being smaller. I think it's a very classy look. I think the Bachelorette has one like this? Solitaire's are fun too. So depending on what your feel is..I would go B or C but for an upgrade if you had a RB already, I'd go option B. GOG has some amazing stones as I'm sure you have already seen. I love the Bscope images and the fact that Jonathan has Scope images for the fancies such as the emerald and pears etc. Not alot of online places do that and in my opinion that is one of the best ways to gauge light leakage and return online for a fancy...it's not as easy as with a RB. Good luck, have fun!

Thank you Josh, and Mara. ![]() Mara, my current e-ring is a marquise. It was a temporary ring I purchased off of eBay until my husband could afford to get me a ring on his own (and I had no problem with this!) We are just newly weds. Jonathan is a Class Act, for sure. I've purchased through him before, and based on that experience, I will do it again. I'm still going back and forth between the Emerald and the Round. Both of you made good points. --------------------- |

B. But then I'm partial to ECs! Plus, it's larger than the RB.

Cassandra, is your diamond ring the one with all those cool blue and faint red fluorescent stones??? All the stones you posted seem very nice... Especially the emerald ! What about a nice round h+a?? Maybe in vs2 clarity so you can get a bigger size without compromising?? I really like these: http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_78ct_h_vs1_h&a.htm http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_75ct_h_vs2_h&a.htm http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_71ct_g_vs1_h&a.htm http://www.goodoldgold.com/aaa7t_e_vs2_h&a.htm I really hope you don't mind me posting these...

Thanks for the input, Hest, Em and Giangi! (Em, I'll PM you when I get back on Monday, I'm still technically on the honeymoon! )I don't mind the suggestions at all, Gia. ![]() Actually, I've been reconsidering just getting a solitaire for now (http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_67ct_f_vvs1__h&a.htm) All of the stones you've posted are nice! Most of the gals that know me from the other board know I'm rather a clarity nut though. As much as I'd like an F FL .75 H&A, just can't do it right now on the budget. I came to a compromise with him. I'm gonna search for a good solitaire and forgoe the three-stone for now, and later on down the road for an anniversary, I'll "upgrade" the ring, but not the center stone. ![]() And yes, that nifty blue/red fluorescing ring is mine!

This would technically be my dream stone, except it's over twice our budget. http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_01ct_f_if_h&a.htm

Cass... I always read your posts on the other board... You had a 0.51 FL E SC, right??? I'm a clarity nut too (except a few cases ... Staying in the IF-VS 1 range, I found some very interesting stones --again, I hope you don't mind me doing that!!-- http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_71ct_e_vs1__h&a.htm http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_71ct_e_vvs2_h&a.htm --> this one looks a ball of fire! Cool! http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_71ct_e_vvs1__h&a.htm BTW, the 1.01 is sooo yummy! Giangi _____________ |

I would pick the emerald, or even just an emerald solitare. I love the look of emeralds, too bad my girl does not. She likes the pear shape which is good because I like those too. I typically am not a fan of rounds, just because everyone has them, and the fancies seem to have more character, typically. Question? You said you are technically still on your honeymoon, yet you are upgrading your ring? Is it because your love with your husband makes it seem that after many years, you are still on your honeymoon, or were you just married and you did not like the ring? Are you keeping the original? If so, what do you plan to do with it? Hope this helps! |

Cass... just in case you feel differently someday, buy your diamond from someone who will give you a full value upgrade to a larger stone down the road. I always said I'd never upgrade my center stone, but I did. Good luck!

Is J too low for your liking? http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_89_j_if__h&a.htm http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_81ct_i_vvs2__h&a.htm Wow, this one looks like a sparkler. Ok, duh, I'm sure you've looked at each and every stone on their website, it's just fun to try to find things within people's specifications.
