I am about to decide to buy or not the following princess cut diamond. What is your opinion? 1.71 G VS 1 6.76*6.70*4.51 mm (sarin report says 1.73 carat) excellent polish, very good symmetry, no fluorescense 67.2% depth, 73% table, very thin to thick girdle (sarin report .18 mm 2.7%) Price is around $8825. What is your expert evaluation of this diamond and advice? I will also add idealscope image. Thanks... Ron

Any advice from the experts on the GIA specs, ideal scope pics, and sarin report?

The stone looks nice from the pic, but the crown is WAAAAAAAAAAY too low... You may want to look for a smaller table too... About 61% +/- 5%...

I agree, the crown is extremely thin, and the pavillion is extremely thick, which should result is a very lifeless, non-brillant diamond. Also, the thin crown mabe be a cause of concern for chipping, but I will defer that to the experts. Is this a Gabriel diamond? It appears to have more than the standard 58 facets? The Gabriel, and others have upto or over 100 facets which is supposed to create better light return. I checked on some Gabriels and I personally thought they just look busy and unattractive, but that is a personal preference. Look under the fancies section of Pricescope. There they have listed the AGA (Dave Atlas' company) suggested sarin numbers for fancy shaped diamonds. Hope this helps! |
