I have lurked for awhile and appreciate everyone's willness to help and provide constructive critiques. So please help me "seal the deal" by choosing the right diamond. Ok - I am down to James Allen or GOG and down to three princess diamonds. I welcome any comments or concerns about the attached information. I am looking for best sparkle/performing diamond. Your opinions are welcomed and appreciated. GOG http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2036/ Carat Weight: 0.945ct Color: F Clarity: VS1 GIA Cut Grade: NA Polish: Excellent Symmetry: Excellent Fluorescence: Negligible Girdle: 2.14% Lab Report: AGS Lab Report #: 7120009 In House: Yes Width: 5.33mm Length: 5.32mm Depth: 4.11mm Table Percentage: 60.44% Depth Percentage: 77.17% Crown Depth: 11.11% Pavilion Depth: 63.40% James Allen #1 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=952132 Item Number: 952132 Shape: Princess Carat weight: 0.95 Cut: Premium Color: D Clarity: VVS1 Certificate: GIA Depth: 71.8% Table: 73% Polish: Excellent Symmetry: Very Good Girdle: Thin to slightly thick Culet: None Fluorescence: STRNG BL Measurements: 5.31*5.47*3.80 Ratio: 1.03 James Allen #2 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1021941 Item Number: 1021941 Shape: Princess Carat weight: 0.90 Cut: Premium Color: E Clarity: VVS2 Certificate: GIA Depth: 72.4% Table: 73% Polish: Very Good Symmetry: Very Good Girdle: Slightly thick to thick Culet: None Fluorescence: None Measurements: 5.49*5.4*3.91 Ratio: 1.02 At worst I would like to narrow down to two. GOG one says sold? 1st JA: not really digging the dark center...but it's a common place for low angle light, not obstruction, so if you really want D VVS1 with strong blue fluor, get an Ideal Scope pic 2nd doesn't have a pic

Hopefully that's you who's purchased the GOG option. I would favor it anyway, particularly for its certificate, and for getting what you need on color & clarity. Ira (Ruffles have Ridges) Z. |

No unfortunately it was not me, it showed it was available when I posted this morning. Well looks like I am down to 2.

I have some preference for the pictures of these stones: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131&item=860599 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131&item=860630

Julie - do you see the polish and symmetry only having a good rating as a problem for your 2nd recommendation?

It is inherently more difficult to get excellent marks on finish for fancies. As long as the deductions for polish and symmetry are not visible to the naked eye, it doesn't matter. I'm more interested in the Ideal Scope pictures, and maybe ASET if possible, than the finish marks. I'm assuming you're looking D-F, IF-VS2, <5500?

Tim at GOG gave me another option that I am leaning towards. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2393/ Any opinions on this one?

It has the bold look characteristic of 2 chevron AGS PR. I don't think it's a suitable replacement, though, in terms of size difference. Once you're open to G, that opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

I am open to G. I would say D-G, VS2 is my limit on clarity. I really want the best fire and sparkle. I could care less if that meant a tenth of a carat less when comparing 2 diamonds

I guess one tenth of a carat doesn't seem like that much. Princesses have less face up surface area than rounds. While some may speak of optical illusions where two stones of equal weight, one RB and one PR, /seem/ to look the same, the .8 G has the same face-up surface area as a Tolk round of about 3/4 carat.

Around $5500 for diamond. Will be in platinum solitaire setting with some side engraving most likely.
