I recently got a princess cut diamond set in a Lucida type setting. I have had so much trouble with my new engagement ring. While getting it sized the first time, the jeweler chipped the corner of my first stone. Now I have a new stone, but I am seeing shadows. When looking head on, you cannot see them. If angled slightly, I can see what looks like square shadows. If the ring is rotated, the square shadows move from one quarter of the diamond to the other. I contacted my jeweler and they advised that this was totally normal and that it was due to the reflection of the setting showing through and quality/quantity of light, etc... I am a little skeptical to believe this due to the problems I had with the first stone. I do not have any measurements, but can anyone offer any advice.
