Hey all. I lost a cheap pear sapphire out of a flush mounting today. No tears, since I'm positive that the stone wasn't natural in any sense of the word. I consider the stone lost for good, and would like to replace it with SOMETHING. Could be any type of pear, approximately 10mm long. I don't know what the exact size of the original was, since I got the ring off eBay without any certs or stuff. But the setting is 14K gold, and has maybe 1/10 - 1/4 ct of included accent diamonds. The flush mount setting is really pretty (I'll try to post a pic later), and deserves to be reset with something. Any suggestions for inexpensive colored stones, and preferably a vendor that would do the resetting? Thanks! |

Blue topaz can be had in nearly any shape and size, pretty and very very cheap. Wink Wink Jones |

Thanks for the idea, Wink. Topaz was one of my ideas, but a talk with my local jeweler (they're SUPER nice and reasonable) steered me toward madagasgar citrine, a rhodium garnet, an iolite, and a BEAUTIUS deep purple amethyst for consideration. I should be able to view these later this week, and pick one of these puppies. I'll post a pick when all's said and done.

You could not replace it and start a new trend... like a "Zen" empty mounting. But any of the cheapy semi-precious stones should be easy enough to find in the right shape/size you need (amethyst, citrine, garnet [cheap varieties], topaz, possibly peridot if it is not too big). Good luck. Adam - www.RioGems.com |
