Hello, hello!

My fiance and I are planning a very small ceremony in June on his family's farm in SW Wisconsin (<50 people). My parents are also planning on having a reception for us in Texas and we'll probably throw a party for our friends here in NY. My question is do these dinners / receptions have to be after the ceremony?

I'm a little worried about it getting really hot in Texas as we get into July. Also, I'm wondering if it would be more fun to have events leading up to the ceremony itself. Will it be a bit of a letdown to have parties after the honeymoon? Or will it give us something to look forward to? If we do them before the ceremony, will the guests consider them to be premature?

Would love any thoughts you might have!

Thanks,
Grace

Hello!
I think I personally would rather wait and have it after so that you guys are married...I think it just makes more sense that way, but you should do wahtever is best for you guys!  I just think that having the reception in TX before the actual wedding will be sort of more like an engagement party...a really big one haha.  But either way, do what makes you and your fiance happy, it's your day!

My sister had two post-wedding parties/receptions. One was about a month after the wedding and the other was more than two months afterwards. Didn't phase anyone at all!
