We finally booked our photographer, deposit is going out in the mail tomorrow!

Phew....what a whirlwind. I scoped out about 15-20 online, contacted 8, met with 6,
and really had a time deciding between our 2 "finalists" But this was our #1 priority, probably even moreso than location, so the effort was worth it.

they all have beautiful work, it's such a matter of personal taste.

we ended up with a great husband & wife team with a studio not far from us. meeting with them was an instant feeling of comfort...it just clicked. (as opposed to the first 2 meetings we had where the one guy didn't call back for 2 weeks and the 2nd couple totally blew off our meeting!)

unfortunately, everyone we met with had beautiful work, so I now need to respond and let them know we're not using them. Yuck. I feel badly, but I know they are used to it.

Congrats on booking your photographer!  I hate making those calls as well.  I hate doing anything that I'm afraid will disappoint someone.  Do you have a link to your photographer's site?  I love seeing the different styles that people like.

http://www.krackephotography.com/pkwedintro.html

here's their website,
if you go to sample events they have 3 weddings with some photos to give a general idea,

if you really want to look at several photos, their client login
brings you to the pictage link for some of the most recent weddings,
this is where aaallll the shots go, then you pick for your albums, prints, etc.

i liked them, they were photojournalistic and still pretty classic looking.

we are getting the dvd so if we decide we want to do something more funky with the photos, fi is a computer photoshop whiz. the biggest thing to us was getting beautiful photos and great folks we can trust!

Oooh they do nice work!  I know what you mean about just wanting good pictures.  I'm pretty good w/ photoshop myself, but my photographer will edit/enhance our photos however we want.  I, however, will be making our albums using one of these album making programs from snapfish or mypublisher.  I'd love to have someone else do it for me, but it's not in the budget and I know I can make something I'll really love.

isn't it great what you can do on your own nowadays with the digital photos?

we are getting an album from them, but are going to do a bragbook, a fun coffe-table book, and the parents albums ourselves-

i found a great knottie bio on my local board with extremely detailed instructions on doing an album in my publisher, including full page spreads, etc. if i can find it again i will post.

i'm excited because we're also using the photographers for the rehearsal dinner, since FI has friends coming from CA that I've never met, my family is coming from all over the country, etc.
