I finally purchased my 2.00ct ACA from WF a few weeks ago and now I'm trying to figure out what setting to go with. I will eventually post pictures when I figure out how. I like so many different styles! I've always liked the eternity style bands and if I decide to go that direction I know WF can make it for me. I'm starting to lean towards a stand alone ring because they are larger and they just look better on my hand. I feel these styles can look a little dated but the few I've seen look good on my large hands. Here are some ideas: One idea was inspired by Christopher Designs. I would use canary yellow princess accents in a channel but, I would halo around the princess cuts with white round brilliants. It would look like a band of white squares with yellow in the centerof the squares. Using the princess squares would help keep the ring from getting too wide. A sort of anniversary ring look but the center stone would be sitting on top in the mounting. Here is sort of what I mean: http://www.solomonbrothers.com/Search/JewelrySearchDetails.asp?sSKU=87044 And some others: (I can't get it to copy/paste again today.) http://www.solomonbrothers.com/pictures/house/91559.jpg http://www.christopherdesigns.com/solitaire%20web/pic_5.html http://www.gottlieb-sons.com/products/26804/still.jpg (use yellow eternity bands on either side of band and canary rounds in semi-mount with white pave round brilliants) http://www.oliversmithjeweler.com/products/custom/weddingrings/RINGC06.JPG (Two eternities together) http://www.oliversmithjeweler.com/products/custom/weddingrings/RINGB76.JPG (I would change the prongs on this.) http://www.sescreations.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?productid=297&categoryid=29&startpoint=0 (marquis/baguettes) http://www.stardustdiamonds.com/designgallery/images.php?id=178&cid=2 http://www.stardustdiamonds.com/ADIF/imagepages/image81.htm http://www.stardustdiamonds.com/designgallery/images.php?id=219&cid=2 Does anyone have any opinions on the above designs? I also like facefires Michael Bondanza's band. I'm not sure this could be stand alone though. Then, I would get a right hand band of canary and white diamonds. Oh No! I can see I've got the bug. Not even settled on this ring and already looking for the right hand one. This is awful. I may find the time to go to the diamond district in NYC this week. Are there any stores that I should go to besides the ones listed below that might have this type of look? Here is my list of places to visit from reading past posts on the subject: Firenze, 15 W.47th Signed Pieces, Same bldg as Firenze Ultimate Diamond, 14 W. 47th Michael J, 5th ave. Diamonds by Lauren SESCreations, (open to public?) Christopher Designs, (open to public?) Well you can see I've been busy trying to nail down some designs. I really like the contrast of baguettes with the round brilliant. I never really liked baguettes before. Anyway would love to hear you opinions. Mrs T |

I like this one... have you looked at Bondanza's website? There's lots of others that you might like. ETA: I would like this ring better without the rounds on the edge, but then I'm into more clean settings, as in not ornate. It is beautiful though...yum! ![]()

Sophie: I love side pears! The look is too petite for my hands. Maybe if I had a 3ct center! Thanks Angeline, I like that one too. I think the round accents in pave add a little sparkle in contrast to the baguettes. They don't need to be big rb's just very well cut and sparkly. How did you get it to post? I find the picture on the web site. Then I right click, select copy, return to forum post, right click and select paste and i get an error messsage that says "Null" What am I doing wrong? Mrs T

Mrs T, I copy the picture to my desktop. When I am making a post there's a button up above that says 'Attach File' clik that then, it will allow you to choose a file from you computer. Click 'Upload' in that dialogue box and you're done (as long as the file is not too big) That file I uploaded was fine. give it a go! a

Sounds like a fun trip! Have you thought about visiting Leon? He is in NYC... Maybe you could make an appt to stop by and get a consultation/suggestions of what he would recommend for your stone? Maybe he can help you decide what you want, then you can post more beautiful Leon pics!

You only have to use the attach file button if the image is not already on the internet, like on your desktop or somewhere. but if it's online, it's easier just to copy and paste than going through the trouble of renaming and uploading IMO

Thanks for the tip on posting pictures. I will give it a try. I tried it Angeline's way and now I have a gorgeous ring to look at on my desktop screen.lol As usual I'm getting a little stressed. I flip flop back and forth with what style I would like to do. I tried on a shared prong wband at BB&B. The 5 stone ring had 30pt stones for total 1.50ct. I really like the size on my hand. Can anyone suggest a plain band that would sit flush with this size ring? I don't know how thick or wide the band is, but probably about 4.5mm wide. I tried the band on with a thin plain band at BB&B. It was pretty good with it. I thought it needed to be a tiny bit higher or thicker, but the width was fine. They wanted way too much money for this simple band. It had a scalloped basket. Does anyone know who makes this? The price was $2k! Doesn't that seem expensive! I just tried the method of using the mountain icon. It didn't work. My computer is so wierd or else it's me. ![]() If that worked is it sort of what I should be looking for? Mrs T

That didn't work. Sorry no picture. http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-X-Prong--Solitaire_977.htm# or: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Platinum-Cathedral-Setting_692.htm When I use the mountain icon, I get an error message in the left hand top box saying I can't access this. I go to past in the URL box and my option to paste is not there. Keep in mind I don't even know what URL even means. Mrs T

Thanks for the compliment of my ring! I agree, I don't think it's substantial enough to be a stand alone, though I do have a lot of people assume I'm married instead of engaged. But, Michael Bondanza has some stunning rings that I think would be gorgeous as stand alone rings (and I would have considered if I didn't want to also wear a wedding band). Here's one:![]()

Okay, last one and I'll stop. :) Bondanza definitely has a number of larger rings, so if you're interested, I'd give them a call and they can refer you to the best dealer in NYC to see them (they are located in NYC too, but I don't think they deal directly with the public)... www.michaelbondanza.com![]()

Thanks for the tips on posting pictures. I think I've got it now. If I go the traditional way, (5 stone, 1.50 tcw), should I use ACA's or expert selection? I think expert is fine don't you? The last photo I posted was a idea I had of combining an anniv style with a solitaire. I'm not sure it would work but I think it would be different. I think I'd like to be different. Appreciate the feedback very much. Mrs T

Hi Ang: I was supposed to go yesterday but DH couldn't break away. There has been some developments locally for me. Today there is a SimonG trunk show at one of my favorite jewelers in town. His selection is usually limited but this might be interesting. Then, I found this amazing high-end jeweler who has designers like Gregg Ruth, Christopher Designs, and many others. They may have a baguette styled ring for me to see today also. If I don't see anything that seems like "the" setting then I will attempt NYC next week. I'll be posting the outcome of these possibilities and may take a picture to post if they allow me to. Thanks, Mrs. T

Well, if anyone is interested, the SimonG trunk show was very nice. What impressed me most: 1. Gem stone rings - The most beautifully colored stones I have ever seen. There was a 4ct Aquamaringe pear in a halo setting with a split shank that I loved. The color was rich and deep. I have never seen such a blue. 2. The pave diamonds used in the settings of nearly every ring were bright white and brilliant. They made my original diamond look yellow and I've never noticed any color on my stone before. I wish I had a picture of a ring I saw that had a round diamond and a square halo. This was a very busy ring but the nicest I have seen. A real large presence. If my original stone was a little larger I thought of setting it in this. It was definately a stand alone style. It was something like this. The picture doesn't do it justice. Another brand new design was beautiful and if I saw it online I wouldn't have liked it. The band was "sparkly" baguettes set not in prongs but with a spacer. The ering matched. I never in my life saw a baguette sparkle as much as these. Sorry not a technical critique but one thing is for sure, SimonG carefully selects the stones they use in their settings. Alas, the styles were not what I was looking for so I didn't select anything. But I'm still dreaming of that aquamarine! Mrs T ![]()

Mrs T, etc I am also thinking of going to NY to look for settings. I emailed Leon, but he can't promise to have anything to show me! (per his website) This is definitely more difficult than I thought. I will probalby try to get to many of the places you will go to, too!
