Hi, everyone!  This may be an odd question, but why do they not make (at least that I have seen) engagement rings in silver?  Is it a lack of demand, or is there some other reason?

I believe (emphasis on believe and not being SURE) that silver is a less hardy/ safe metal to put diamonds in.  That's what I've heard... not sure if it's true.  But I do know about a specific line of jewelry that uses only silver and diamonds (can't remember the name right now, sorry) but the diamonds they use are always very small... about one point at the most from what I've seen.  And they are always set into the metal itself, rather than anything with prongs because that is the safest way to set diamonds in silver.  And that's the extent of my knowledge. I hope someone else can offer you some more feedback!

I think poptart is on right track here, I have silver rings I can bend with my bare hands if I wanted to.  Also, they are pretty scratched up and tarnish after time.

There is a line called "Hot Diamonds" which is sterling silver.  I think it's mostly small diamonds.

That's the name I was trying to think of! Thanks, it's been driving me nuts ever since I posted!

Thank you for your responses!  I appreciate it.  I was just curious why I hadn't seen silver engagment rings, but now it makes sense.  Thanks!
