Just got engaged and returned from my trip to do so. Recap: Girlfriend (fiance) lives in Australia, I live in Manhattan, and I've been working for almost six months on putting together a ring. Here's the links to my other ramblings (if you're that bored) http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=48641&forumID=3&catID=&search=1&searchstring= and a bit more: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=48709&forumID=3&catID=&search=1&searchstring= anyway, flew down to australia, spent a week with her, and on the last day (she thought), we were strolling down the boardwalk of Sydney harbour, and I started talking about us, our relationship, the hurdles we've overcome, and how much it means to me (which may sound romantic, but I wax on about this almost every time I fly over to see her and am about to leave). This time though, at the end of the boardwalk, with the moon out, a warm breeze, and the lights flickering off the harbour. . . I proposed. oddly enough, the first thing out of her mouth was, "are you serious?" to which I responded by holding up a small wooden box. after a moment of silence I opened it to reveal the ring I spent so much time on. she was just able to squeak out a "yes" before she started crying. The best part was pointing to the restaurant next to us, at the crowd cheering on the second floor balcony, and telling her it was her friends and family who had come to watch. Off to the airport the next morning to see me on my way back to manhattan. I pulled out my bags at the curb side. . . and then proceeded to put them all back in except for a backpack. Confused, she kept asking me what I was doing. Eventually she understood that I was actually staying for longer, and that the friend she thought she was meeting an hour later to go on a trip with her wasn't actually showing up. Instead we flew off to go sailing on the great barrier reef for four days. So. . . anyone want to see a few hand shots that I snapped?
