What is a fair fee to pay a jeweler to re-size a ring? I realize this can be affected regionally, so specifically I'm thinking in terms of the two coasts -- New York City area and Southern California. Thank you!

I'm not on the coast, but I paid $100 for a half size up in 18K last month in a major metropolitan area.

I paid $50 for each ring (Ering/Wband) when I got my new w-set...

I paid $30 to go down a size for one ring in Arizona in 14kt, and $60 in SoCal to do one platinum ring.

Thanks for your input. My local jeweler in So. Cal charges $90 which I thought was a lot, but now that I hear these other examples I guess it is "somewhat" competitive (but still a little high, IMO). Honestly, I think it shouldn't run more that $40-50.

I have never paid more than $30 to have a ring sized, Usually I am having them size down and that runs around $20-$25. I am in Ohio.

Date: 10/12/2006 11:46:17 PM Same here in the southeast! I think I paid about $20 per ring last fall to go up a half size. I know I am not in the area you asked about, but it amazes me how different prices are in different areas.

I think it may be more for platinum, although I'm also starting to think my local store may be overpriced. They charge $50-75 depending upon whether you need it same day, per ring, for plat.

$20 for white gold in So Cal. I use the same jeweler most of the time for purchases, upgrades, and maintenance, though.
