My favorite color is green. I've always envisioned having green at my wedding. I would love to have a bouquet like this picture. But my fiance is taiwanese and I'd like to incorporate some red into the wedding as is traditional Chinese custom. Do you think that pale spring green and a hot pinkish warm red would look "Christmas-y"? It doesn't seem to be a traditional color combination. I'd like to stay away from pink as much as possible. What other colors would look good?

I think those particular shades of red and green are lovely together and would definitely not scream "CHRISTMAS". And you have good reasons behind wanting to use them! Just steer clear of dark green and I think you'll be ok. beautiful green bouquet! Would you have your attendants in green or red?

That wallpaper is GORGEOUS  and I think those colors will work just fine! I agree with sum, just stay away from the dark green and you shouldn't have a problem! I would also try to make more things green than red, and just use the red as an accent. For example, no red bridesmaid dresses or tablecloths, just a few flowers and ribbons and smaller details here and there to capture the "essence" of the wallpaper's balance. If that makes any sense at all.

I think you would be fine if you stick to a sage, pale green and a deep dark red.

I'm so glad you guys like it! The paper is actually Japanese Chiyogami paper (from PaperMojo). I was thinking of using it as a band around my invitations. Now my mom thinks it looks "too Japanese", though. Sigh. I think I'll have the bridesmaids just wear black, for convenience's sake. Plus, I like the contrast of a colorful bouquet against a dark colored dress.

I don't think that wallpaper looks too "Japanese" or anything - it's a very pretty design. Initially I thought that I would think the colors together would look too Christmas-y, however with seeing the wallpaper and the tones you are thinking, I think it would be just fine. I love that green bouquet!! ETA: I guess it is just paper, not wallpaper, as I said for some strange reason. Oops, lol.

Gorgeous!!! I think that particular shade of sage green with a rich hot pinkish-red would be absolutely stunning. Vibrant and happy! I'm a huge fan of bright colors at a wedding....kind of a nice change from virginal white and pastels that you usually see. Love your bouquet too. I think it's sweet that you're incorporating your fiance's heritage into the color scheme. And that paper is beautiful! I don't think it's "too Japanese" at all...it just looks very rich and artsy. (btw, I don't remember if I told you in your ring thread before but your 1.5carat Ritani ring is TDF!!!!!)

If the green stays light enough it should be fine. I think it would only end up looking like xmas if the green got to be too dark.

I agree - a sage green or light pale green would work really well and not yell 'Christmas!' to me.

I agree that it won't look Christmasy if you use a sage green, and it can work even with a darker green, just depend on how it's done. If you are still worried about it looking Christmasy than you can incorporate another color. I did red, peach and green for my BMs. Or like these arrangements, you don't have to have both red and green in the same arrangement or bouquet. You can have green for you and red for BMs or vice versa.  __________________________ |

I think a paler or more spring green (pippin apple type color) with a deep pink red magenta type color (like a rhodolite garnet) not too pink or too red, would be pretty, or even a plum/burgundy tone, with some brown in it would work. Maybe with accents of gold? Just stay away from forrest green or pine green and that really bright cherry red and it should be stunning and so unusual!

Basil, I think green and red together are fabulous! Those were the exact colors I was considering for my November wedding. I was really going to do it, but my fiance is Chinese and he said something about how green is the color for divorce in Chinese tradition and that his mom who lives by Chinese tradition might not like it. Still that wasn't going to stop me, but I decided to go with orange and red anyways. It has more of an Asian feel to me But the colors posted in here look great!

The only thing in Chinese culture that can close to that is the belief that when a wife commit adultery, it is said that she is giving the husband a green hat to wear. So a green hat is associated with female adultery, but not everything green though. __________________________ |
