Hey all just want to say great site. Was wondering if someone could help me out with a diamond I was interested in. I wanted to compare a Tiffany's diamond to other stores and ones online. I used the HCA for diamonds from Whiteflash and Bluenile and it worked everytime. This is the measurements Tiffany's gave me but, I got a thin girdle message, is this common for a Tiffany cut, is there something else to take into account, or are the numbers incorrect somehow? 0.73 Ctw The ring is clarity graded VS1. Table: 56 percent Crown Angle: 35.3 Pavilion Depth: 43.3 Total Depth: 61.7 percent Thanks |

hey iceman welcome to ps!the 43.3pavilion is a percentage in this case, so make sure when you are entering the information you select % from the drop down menu.

I get a 2.6 when entered correctly - you have to change the box from angle to percent for pavillion depth. The angle is the most accurate if that is available.

Thanks for the help. 2.6 isn't that good compared to some of the diamonds I've found online. Besides checking the HCA and looking at polish and symmetry is there anything else about how well cut a diamond is that I find online. I'm starting to lean toward the internet buy, whats the average price for an independant appraisal? Thanks

Buying rounds sight unseen - check out the reference chart for ideal-socpes and request ideal-scope photo's. Use ASET for rounds Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
