About to pick up my E-ring and I need to get insurance for it. Read about the hard times getting insurance from Chubb.  I was wondering if anyone found an agent in San Francisco Bay Area that sells Chubb jewlery insurance on its own?

I used Carla Yanase in SF to get my standalone Chubb policy a few months ago....

I think you can just Google her info, she was great to work with, super easy to get it setup. It just took a day or so after faxing the info. My girlfriend used them too when she got engaged a few months later.

ETA....Here's her info:

F. Longstocking,

I had a hard time finding one in the SF Bay Area to insure me just for jewelery.  They all wanted a the homeowners or insurance, auto, etc.

I finally got someone that was recommeded doing a search on Chubb.  He will do an jewlery only insurance policy.

His name is William Castro and his contact is at www.totaldollar.com

I think it was around $1.90 per 1000 dollars in my area.  Hope this helps.

Diamondheart,

Thanks for the info. I tried pulling up William Castro's information on TotalDollar website, but I must be looking in the wrong place. Can you point me toward that direction. I found several Chubb agents here in San Diego, but I need to check if any of them will do jewelry only.

How was your experiencing insuring your ring?

Thank you!

I called the number on the website.  It's an 1800 number. I think there is an option to look for someone by spelling the last name with the phone (Castro).  It then will forward you to William Castro and I was able to talk to him and he had it to me within 2 hrs.  I had an appraisal report that I emailed, he checked on the prices for me, then got me a policy number in less than 2 hrs.  I don't think he needs an appraisal report, but you gotta ask him.

diamondheart, did you call carla? she does jewelry only. anyway just wondering if you explored that avenue at all. i called bill castro at total dollar as well but at the time he was swamped so didn't get back to me, so carla was a godsend.

I tried calling and emailing Carla. She is no longer with the company. I did talk to someone by the name of Janet and she was about to have a meeting with Chubb. She said she will ask during the meeting if the standalone policy is still available. Last she has heard, they were going to get rid of that. Anyhow, she'll call me back. Will let you guys know.

thanks for the update cowgirly!! that's interesting.

i'd try bill castro at totaldollar.com as well in the meantime, since it seems others have gotten policies through him for standalone. maybe he can get it through quickly?

i wonder why chubb would want to nix the standalone?

So I called Janet back today and it's a no go. She said Chubb would offer the standalone insurance but they want additional business with it. So basically, it's not a standalone. It just happens that Janet was telling me about condo insurance (protecting things inside the house and liability) and I just found out from my husband that we don't have it (yes, we had an argument about this!) We have HOA and the coverage is very limited. Soooo, Janet is actually going to get a quote for me.
