Starting the process - looking for Daniel K advice!

I've been lurking on these boards for some time, but my boyfriend and I are starting to look at rings and I'm hoping for some advice! I adore the Daniel K rings I've seen - the Cushion Empress, the Asscher Empress and the Cushion Union Square. (They are all so lovely that it's difficult to choose a favorite!)

We are considering stones in the two-carat range, and I'm wondering what the prices for a Daniel K ring would be. Also, would there be a substantial difference if we were to buy a stone online (I've read good things about the cushions from Mark T. at Engagement Rings Direct) and design a custom Leon Mege setting?

My boyfriend is in favor of going with a Daniel K, and I'd love to have one. I'm originally from Michigan, so a visit to Pearlman's could be a possibility.

Any suggestions or thoughts on Daniel K vs. custom, styles, where to go from here?

Thanks!

Daniel K is pretty pricey, I think the settings themselves are about 7-10k? So add in a 2c stone, maybe you are talking 30-40k depending on what type and color/clarity of the stone?

Building it custom and going LM would be definitely cheaper...but it is not branded and some people just really want nothing but the actual designer setting. But if you don't mind tweaking the design a bit or getting one of LM's close-to DK kinda settings then I'd go that route, plus then can you find your own stone which I am all about doing.

Both options are great, they are just different. Just depends on what you two want to do and what your budget is!

I agree, if you don't have to have the name, I'd go with a LM. You will definitely save, and won't skimp on the beauty factor at all, IMO.

Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks.
