Today was my wedding day. I haven't been on this thing for at least a year, and yet, today I find myself back here, looking at people's posts and the new pictures of wedding gowns. Why? I don't know. I would have had a beautiful wedding, thanks to all the people on here who sent me pictures and all the ideas that the knot provides us with. Though it is my wedding day, and it would have been great, I could care less. Sure, I am sad that I won't have my wedding, but I'm even more upset that I won't have my marriage. My fiance died last year in a car accident. Wiped out in the blink of an eye. Today was our wedding day, a day he picked out. He wanted to have a nacho bar and I said no, it wouldn't go with the "feel" of the wedding. I would give anything to walk down the aisle towards him and eat nachos afterwards. Please don't respond to this and say you're sorry. I'm not writing this for people to feel sorry for me. I just wanted to remind everyone of what they have. Even if you can't have your designer dress, or your parents are fighting, or your MOH isn't acting according to your plan, or your cake isn't the exact flavor you wanted just remember that it's only one day and that you get to marry the person you love. You get to be with them. Just be happy, and don't forget to tell them that you love them every single day. ~~~~On August 4, 2007 I married my best friend~~~~ |

I read that on a few boards on the knot. On one board someone posted that it wasn't true, but is really someone's creative writing assignment. I don't think it really matters, though. The point is to put things in perspective and it does that whether it's real or not. I definitely teared up reading it.

Robbie, what subject is that board under on the knot? I kinda thought it might be made up too, but maybe not?

I know almost a year ago - this was real. We just had a fundraiser golf outing this past Saturday to raise money for college tuitions. Both his and her families were there and the painful tears still flow. http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=34488

In the last few days I've been hanging out on The Dress, NE Ohio, and Pittsburgh mainly, but I've been on a bunch of boards so I could find lots of people with bios to look through (I need to get inspiration somewhere after all ). I'm checking my usual spots right now to see if I can find it.

I've tried to post this a few times, but something's wrong w/ PS. The post can be found on the knot's pittsburgh board. It's called something like "If you only read one post"

robbie, nothing wrong with PS, more with the user name which was in that post you copied from the knot and tried to paste. Profanity is against the Policies here. Pricescope |

This post made me have to tell about one of my experiences. It's sad, I'll warn up front. When I was going through my divorce, I met a fantastic man. We started dating, and fell in love. He knew that when my divorce was final, I was moving from Arkansas back to Ohio. My daughter was getting ready to start kindergarten, and Ohio schools were better than Arkansas. I also wanted to put distance between myself and ex-husband. The day my divorce was final, Jimmy took me out, and proposed. I was overwhelmed, but made one of the hardest decisions of my life. I told him that I couldn't get remarried so soon, and needed to do some things for myself and kids for awhile. He then said that since I was leaving, he would rather us break up completely....no letters, calls, etc. He said it would be too hard on him to continue contact being so far apart. So, with a broken heart, I agreed. Four years later, I was going to be in Iowa, Missouri, and Arkansas for a vacation. I called friends and made arragements to see everyone who helped me through my divorce. Then, I decided to call Jimmy and see if he would see me. That call was so scary. We talked for hours and I was extending my vacation for a few days so we could have a little extra time together. After the phone call, I decided that if the spark was still there, I was going to pack up everything in Ohio and the kids and I would move back to Arkansas. The phone call was on a Tuesday, and I'd see him on Monday. Two days after the call, I got a call from one of Jimmy's SIL. She told me Jimmy died of a heat stroke the day before. I was in shock. After several hours of crying, I had to call back to see if maybe I had been dreaming that awful call, but I hadn't. I still went to see Jimmy's family...I met all of them before. Talking to one of his brothers, he told me how excited Jimmy was after talking to me. He told his brother that if we still had the spark, he was going to move to Ohio with us. Life is short. We never know how short it is. Live everyday like it's your last.

Whether the story is true or not, like Starset and Oshin have both said, it happens. The Comair flight that crashed in Kentucky killing everyone recenly had a couple that had just been married the night before heading off for their honeymoon. I was telling that to a co-worker and she said her sister lost her new husband on their honeymoon. They had been on a helicopter tour in Australia and she offered to ride on a different helicopter back so a family could all sit together... the one without her crashed killing everyone. Thank you for the reminder. I try and tell DH and all my family I love them as often as possible. I hope you all do the same.

Oshin, that is so tragic but at least you got to have some conversation before he passed. Even if this story is an urban myth or not true, I am sure it is a sad reality for someone somewhere, and just shows us to cherish those we love...so if it does that it is inspirational... **************************** |
