Diamond Wedding Band in My Near Future |

I am very excited today, as my husband told me we are going browsing for my 8-year anniversary present this evening! He told me he wanted to give me either diamond stud earrings or a diamond wedding band, both of which I have been silently pining for. After much thought, and after virtually putting together the studs I wanted to have, I decided to go with the wedding band. The earrings I am interested in would be as expensive as the ring, and I tend to like to change my earrings every day--I wear a lot of costume jewelry earrings and use them as part of my fashion. The wedding band I would wear every day. So the earrings are left to a future present.![]() I perused the online vendors' offerings, but found that I like the style/make of wedding rings at a nearby B&M store better for my e-ring/wedding band. The metal color and metalwork match well, so we are probably going to buy locally. Pricing was rather close as well, although there is always the issue of the stone quality and comparing apples to apples. Plus I am generally pleased with the smaller stones' quality offered in band settings, and will be picking out my earrings as loose stones in the future, most likely from an online vendor I learned about here on Pricescope. So I'll save that obsessing for later. I am interested in a half-circle diamond band (8 or 9 stones, I think) in a shared-prong setting, and think I am going to look at .5 ctw--my e-ring is 1 carat and I am not getting a bigger one, that's pretty definite. My concern is picking something that looks balanced and appropriate with my current rings. Are there any "golden rectangle" type guides for this? Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement. I am also going to be sending my current rings in for sizing (guess I have been eating too many cookies the last 8 years), and won't be able to show any pics of the complete set for several weeks. I will miss my rings during that time. |

I don't think there are any rules, but I found trying them on that I sort of liked the width of the diamond band to be similar in width to the e-ring band. But you'll just have to try some on to see what looks good with your e-ring. I bought a Memoire band and found it to be the best quality of those I looked at (other than Tiffany's!). Some are set lower than others, so do look for a brand that sets the stones low so that the diamonds don't rub your e-ring prongs. I found the low set ones to be much more comfortable as well. Good luck and we'll look forward to seeing what you decide! (Oh, and I went with 7 stones).
