Here are the specs:

WG ring, 24pts VS GH pavé, nickle alloy, 4 prongs (500$US with taxes)
with

.85 H VS1 GIA table 60% Depth 61% Pav 43% Crown 34o Girdle med to thick
Fluo faint Culet none
Laser inscribed
One very small cloud only right in the middle of the table but at a level deep in the crown
(far from the surface)

Comes with GIA Dossier, independant evaluation with plotting by a gemmologist
and appraisal by another indepedant gemmologist I know.

Price with everything included (even appraisal) : 3250$ US

I've found the perfect thing for my sweetie I guess...
Even if my main occupation is not diamond dealing, I can assure you that I like it.

Well Richard,

Another jeweller I know for the last 4 years was unable to find
me the same type of stone for that price... so he proposed me
that we start a diamond dealing company... and I have accepted.
We will now be responsible for trading of diamonds for the store.
hehehehhe.... and I have another full time work!!!

Okay Trichrome, but here's the ground rules. You're not allowed to make any money.

heh heh heh

That's my Trichrome imitation for the day...

It will be interesting to see if your previous attitude changes any now that you're on the other side of the fence.

So Tri, this means that you will sell me any future stones at your cost, right? Because it's just *evil* when dealers actually try to make money on their customers!! Maybe 5% is acceptable but NO MORE!

Hee Hee couldn't resist.

Rich

My attitude??? hmmmmm.... well if I see that the customer has done his homework,
i will be more than happy to give him a very good price...
BTW, the dealer made a couple of hundreds on my stone but not a lot......cause I got it
at 35% off rap.......

Mara.... I would be more than happy to help you find something wonderful if you come
visit us in Montreal, Canada!!!!

Giangi..... thank you and I'll try to get some pictures of it as soon as possible!

The stone is perfectly set.....solid and simply beautiful... even when looking at the
ring under 10x, I can't find something that is wrong... the pavé looks gorgeous too.

Sounds like a really good deal - but I think you're exaggerating a little on the 35% discount off rap...

Based on the specs you've provided, the center stone is most likely a 2A cut. The avg. rap price quoted on pricescope for a 2A, .85ct, H, VS1 as $3396/ct, or $2886.60 for your diamond. A 35% discount would be $1876.29.

If the stone is a 1B (need more info), the rap price is $3859/ct or $3280.15 for your diamond. A 35% discount would be a purchase price of $2132.10.

If the stone is actually a 2B (again, need more info), rap price is $3550/ct or $3017.50 for your diamond. A 35% discount would be a purchase price of $1961.38.

Please correct me if I'm working this out wrong (for one, I'm not sure why the 2B cut is more expensive than the 2A???)

Mattin,

Let me put some light on your reply.

Prices that you find on Pricescope are not directly related to prices published
by Rapaport.

Rap price for ANY round brillant stone between 70 and 89, H, VS1 is 4300$US / ct
at the present time.

for a 85 pointer, Rap price would be 3600$ US.
And I got that stone at 25% off rap all taxes (if any) included..... which is around 35% off rap
before tax.

That's not that unusual if you buy very close to the source.... you need some good friends...

Thanks for the clarifcation - I thought the prices listed on pricescope seemed like good deals already (I was obviously mistaken when I thought they were directly related to rap). I have also heard that "those in the know" always provide quotes in terms of discounts to Rap.

You're welcome.
