Hello! Okay I'm sorry to bug you with another photography question, but photography is really important to me and I would love some advice! In my previous post, I was deciding between two photographers. Well we met with a new one yesterday who is well within budget and we both loved him. The only thing is that he doesn't work with an assistant photographer. I don't know if that's really a big issue, I just know other photographers use them, though we did meet with some who didn't use them either. Either that or their lower packages did not include an assistant. Has anyone had experience with a photographer just working solo? I guess I'm afraid that he might miss some shots. Does two photographer necessarily mean there will be better coverage? Does the day go smoother with two photographers? http://www.bmac-photo.com/jdwed/ http://www.bmac-photo.com/amwed/ http://www.bmac-photo.com/dswed/ _____________________________ *~*mrs. chellebelle 7-7-07*~* |

Hey Chelle! I dont think it is a big deal working without an assistant, especially if its not a big wedding....but if you really want one, does he have an option of adding one on to the package? I know alot of photographers do that... But seriously, I dont think its a big deal. Alot of the photographers we met with said that they take 98% of the pics, and the assistant was basically there to set up equipment and stuff like that. Maybe he just prefers working on his own, and he is a guy, so it is probably easier for him to lug stuff around and set up on his own.. Just my thoughts...

Thanks Dani. That's true... I could ask if I could add an assistant photographer. I know with other photographers I've met you could do this, but it cost at least $400. And one other place quoted much higher... double I think! If it doesn't make a big difference, I could just forego paying extra and just use that money for albums, prints etc.

I am having a small wedding and my choice was either a solo photographer of the quality I wanted-- or a dou where I compromised on quality. My budget would allow for anything else. I chose quality over quanity. A single photographer can't be everywhere, of course but with a wedding the size of mine, with proper communication I think that it'll be fine. If I had a bigger wedding though... it would be difficult.

Hi chellebelle. Our photog had an assistant for the ceremony, to get some shots from the back and front. Other than that, it was just the main photog... and to tell the truth, I could tell right away which pics were taken by his asst and which by him... just the composition of the shot, etc... small details. So I think one photog is probably fine really, unless you have a huge wedding or something!!
