I have the following two GIA diamonds on hold for the same price: $9800. First, is $9800 a good deal; and second which is a better deal? Is the .17 size difference better than the depth difference of the first?

Carat Co Cl Depth Tbl Gdl Cul Sym Pol Flr Measurements
1.77 E SI1 74.90% 76.00% med-thk no vg ex fnt 6.67x6.54x4.87
1.60 F SI1 68.90% 75.00% med-thk no g vg fnt 6.75x6.43x4.43

Thanks
Chris

You ought to compare the light return with an Ideal-Scope to see which one has better light performance. You eyes will not readily detect which one is brighter, but the Ideal-Scope helps to make the difference very clear.

I would definately lean more towards the 1.77ct.

1.) Better color
2.) Better polish
3.) Better symmetry
4.) Larger
5.) Very square

Good point, Dave.

It is difficult to evaluate Princess Cuts solely on the numbers.
Devices that measure light leakage (IdealScope) and light output(BrillianceScope) will give you a better 'read'.

I prefer the 1.77 as well, although both have quite large tables...

OK; so the 1.77 appears on paper to be the better of the two althoguh I thought the 1.60 had more shine to it. Also, what am I to make of the "sticker price" of the two? I was told that the sticker price is the "market value" of the diamond. The strange thing was the price for the 1.77 was $19K and the price for the 1.60 was $27K. Any comments on what is printed on the sticker/UPC label? Both stores are reputable dealers in the area.

Thanks
