I'm looking for an appraiser in Hawaii (on Oahu). Any recommendations? Anybody here got an appraisal in Hawaii? My ring is on its way and will be arriving here on monday. When I look at the PS appraisers link, all I see are appraisers from the west coast. When I click on the state of Hawaii on the map, I only get 1 appraiser, but when I input a zip code, I get 10. All on the west coast though. Any good experiences? I prefer to do it here rather than sending the ring off because I want to be there sitting w/ the appraiser and talking to them knowing that the ring they are looking at is really my own. My main concern is that the diamond ring I will be receiving is really the one I purchased. Online shopping + thousands of dollars on a specific rock = paranoid me. Too bad this diamond thing isn't as cut and dry and easy as buying something like a computer online...

Welcome doppler Consider yourself lucky living in Hawaii! The winters here in New England are cold and long, usually. You're not being paranoid..just cautious. Do what feels right. If you want to sit with the appraiser and ask lots of questions, that's fine. If you don't do what's really in your heart, you could have second thoughts and regrets later.
