So I have searched black dimaonds on the forums, and have not found much recently... and am wondering, might it be worth getting one, if its a good deal? Especially if the seller offers a money back guarantee. Warning: This is an ebay diamond... and I know how everyone feels about buying things like this on ebay- but, if it sells for $100, like one did earlier, I think it may be worth the risk? http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=290021212036&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT |

I'll share my experience if it helps. I was looking for a black diamond earring stud and no local jeweler carried one but could always order it for what seemed fairly expensive compared to what I've seen online. So I went with an online vendor who offered a 30 day money back guarantee and a certificate of authenticity on the diamond. It was a single .50 ct treated black diamond stud in white gold with a push back. Many local jewelers were skeptical about the price of the diamond I was quoting (surprise, surprise) so after receiving it I took it to one very skeptical jeweler in particular and he verified it was indeed a diamond and looked fine. I was very satisfied with the diamond, but slightly disappointed with the setting of the diamond as it looked crooked in the prongs. However, I had planned to get a new platinum la pousette (protector) back soldered on for allergies and security. I found a jeweler I trusted and he said before he solders the new post on he always takes the diamond out because he doesn't want to expose the diamond to heat without knowing the effects of it. In doing so he told me he would reset the diamond and it would be straight. His theory on the crooked setting was due to mass production of these studs. I got it back the following week and everything was perfect, including the diamond setting. I'm a newbie and don't know the rules of this forum on whether I can post the vendor and price from where I purchased the diamond, but they do offer black diamond rings very similar if not spot on to that one on ebay. If you buy one online and want peace of mind on the diamond itself, just take it to one or more jewelers and get their opinion. Fred obsessed with the color black |

Hi All, I purchased a 2 ctw black irradiated diamond from JTV. I bought the stone loose and had it set in a three stone setting. Two trilliant zircons as side stones. There is no sparkle, but there are so few black stones and for the price I felt I'd like to say I have a black diamond. I went to Vegas this year and stayed at a 4 star hotel. In the lobby they had an expensive jewelers. In the front window they showed several black and white diamond rings; several with small stones surrounded with white diamonds. They were beautiful. I had been appraising a lot of jewelry at this time and had a GIA graduate gemologist look at it. I don't offcially appraise something unless it value exceeds a certain amount. This did not. The ring appraised verbally for $800.00. I paid 138.00 for the stone, !00.00 for a 14 kt ring and I forgot what the zircons cost. It really looks good. I was thinking maybe I should've bought my son some for cufflinks. I think on this forum the purists wouldn't want an enhanced stone. I am happy with mine. Thanks Annette
