I'd like to see what the most popular shape is.  I hear it is round, but there seems to be a rise in fancy shapes.

So, list your shape and let's see!!

My engagement ring has a radiant cut center stone- no pictures right now because it's at the jeweler's being reset. RBs seem to be the most popular, and radiants the least but radiant lovers are special people

My current (second upgrade) is an emerald cut.

First was a round.  HATED the setting.  thought about changing that, and decided I loved emerald cuts and wanted one.  (ten years later, and though rounds are fine and dh liked them, I could have been a bit more creative)

when I got my second upgrade, I stayed with the emerald.  I really love that it is elegant and timeless yet pretty, not a trendy thing.  I know I will never get tired of it.

I have a thread, pictures of my emerald cut finally, and I think Nan posted it in SMTR...

Transition cut (I just learned that the other day). We had wanted an Old European Cut, but couldn't find one in our price range while we were looking.

I guess I count under the "round" category.

Hi! I'm a collector.  I have at least one of every shape except a heart, a princess and a cushion.

I have a radiant as well!  It is considered a cut-cornered square modified brilliant by the GIA report.  I love it because of the square shape, but also because of how sparkly it is.  After looking at all the gorgeous diamonds on PS, I am also drawn to the modern cushions, but every shape diamond I've seen on here is absolutely beautiful

So far radiants are in the lead, with round and oval a close second!

My first was a marquise, my first upgrade a pear, and my current is an ovel. I like my stones to look big for their size!

I am still experimenting and getting better with the photos, so once again, I present my beloved hall of mirrors, my Excellent cut .71 H color S1 Emerald e-ring (2 weeks old!)

I have loved emerald cut always, there was never any question about what shape to get for my engagement ring, just a little juggling to make sure we got one that was affordable but not teeny, since they tend to look smaller than other shapes. This one is 6.2 mm by 4.5 mm, I'm really really thrilled with it. It's pretty sizeable compared to those of friends, coworkers, etc...in fact, the first comments at work were "that's huge". It's a nice size for less than a carat (and for the price we paid) and very very fiery/sparkly. The green tint in my platinum setting is from the leaves outside...

thanks to all who have suggested how to photograph in the past...now, if I could just get some "ring floss" to clean under it, and get the hard water spots off! you will notice my finger is flaking off from the constant washing, I am determined not to let it get fingerprinty and greasy and dull!

-Murray N. Rothbard, in The Anatomy of the State

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

My upgrade is an emerals cut with trapezoid sidestones...no pictures because I don't know how
